DSLR Cameras

Dd is a keen photographer and we'd like to get her an entrance level 'proper' camera where you can play around with aperture and shutter speed so were thinking about an entrance level DSLR. Which ones are good and relatively simple to use? Nikon? Canon? or other? Max budget £ 400.00, ideally slightly less.

And what are mirrorless cameras? Are they better?

If not a DSLR, what kind camera would be useful to a photography enthusiasts?

I have a 4000D that I use for DS when teaching him, I got it in 2018 so not necessarily the newest but its good. If your buying new it doesn't matter when it was released (secondhand pay attention to shuttercount).

The higher the number the cheaper and more entry level is the general rule (so a 5D is professional but a 4000D is entry level etc...).
