I'm going up! (Into the loft)

We're not putting decorations up yet but I'm about to brave the ladder to the loft and fetch the Christmas boxes down.
I'll need the advent calendars at the end of the week (really?!) but also want to check that nothing is damaged. Neighbours across the road had hungry squirrels in their roof space last year with a penchant for the festive season!
Fingers crossed.

My least favourite domestic job of the year! At best I get rained in dust. Good luck!

When we moved we made the decision that NOTHING is to be stored in the loft which means that getting to the decorations is a far easier task than it used to be.🎄
Our old loft was properly organised (boarded, lighting etc) but the temptation to keep everything "just in case" was too tempting.
Instead we allocated a bedroom for storage and use stacking tote boxes, shelving & racking to provide more, easily accessable space than we used to have in our old loft but with none of the risks of damp, mustiness etc. it is also more visible so it is easy to keep a check on what has been put in there.

I barely need to make an effort as my house has a dormer so no ladders, etc, are required to access the loft. There is a large hatch type opening which is very clearly lit on either side. I just need to step through it.

I can guarantee that by the end of today I will have hit my head on said hatch several times despite its dimensions being generous, clearly visible and me constantly reminding myself to watch my head.

We used to have dormer eaves @ForPearlViper - I miss the ease of access but not the sore head!

We tidied our loft earlier in the summer so access is much easier. I still feel dusty afterwards but bringing boxes down is still better than packing Christmas away!

Luckily I have two strong teenagers at home who have got all the Christmas boxes down from the loft for me today!
