Xbox - code no game card

Ds1 has an Xbox series S (I think). It has no physical game disks.
He is asking for fc25 for Christmas. If I order the game from say Amazon, Argos, Smyths, do you receive the game case or just get emailed the code? Just trying to work out how he can receive it from Father Christmas if I get the email!!

I buy digital codes from Amazon or CDKeys (which is often cheapest). I then take the code and type it onto a document/PowerPoint slide and fancy it up a bit. Then print.

@Scoleah thanks but the Amazon one looks like they email you the code rather than send you the code so I don't have anything to physically gift.
