Those Christmas countdown decorations

Am I being unreasonable? I'd like one of those wooden Christmas countdown ornaments that you move a star/Santa/car along this year. Partly because I like them, partly because DS is three and it will be a good visualisation for him to show how long till Christmas, partly because I have a little shelf by the front door that I think one would look great on.

All of the ones I've seen, all of them, call themselves a countdown but are in fact a count up. They start at 1 and move to 24/25. Surely it should start at 25 and work down to count down the number of days left till Christmas? They even have Santa waving out of his sleigh which is definitely travelling in a 1 to 25 direction. Surely they're more of an advent calendar instead of a countdown??

(Obviously this is light-hearted, but if anyone has seen a good countdown then let me know!)

Hmm, never looked at it in that way.
I have one like your picture which is the date, but I guess also shows how far it it to go.
I have another which is two numbered block with which I do a countdown. So it currently shows 35 days until Christmas. But that wouldn't help a 3yo visualise.

Maybe start at the wrong end and work backwards?

I think my brain is just wired up differently to others 😂 I think if I go with one more like the houses, I can paint and decorate the back myself and put the numbers on the "right" way. Or, inevitably when I don't have time to do it, grumble about it all Christmas and vow to do it next year when I'm stuffing the decorations away on the 6th Jan...!

Put a mini tree or something at the "1" end to symbolise Xmas Eve and work towards it. It's counter-intuitive to work right to left but your 3yo won't care!
