Christmas Trees and Unruly Toddlers

Does anyone have any recommendations for ways to protect a Christmas tree from an inquisitive, strong and stubborn one year old please? We've seen some white fencing but it doesn't look that strong - does it actually work or are there any better solutions that we're missing??

We had a play pen and put the Christmas tree inside. I'm not sure why we had a play pen, as that was the only time we used it.

Bottom half of the tree pretty bare, better decorations higher up.

Fence it off with whatever you have. We've done putting it in a playpen and also putting it behind the sofa and then blocking the exits. We also have a small extra artificial tree and some non precious decorations that the kids can play with.

We just told the children not to touch it, repeatedly.

Toddler safe decorations for the bottom half - felt, homemade, paper, sparkly dinosaurs. Anything irreplaceable used on shelves for a couple more years just in case!

I didn't bother with keeping the tree beyond reach with either of mine. Give them some bits they can play with on the tree safely and they'll be happy as Larry :) My youngest will be almost 3 this year and loves dressing the tree. They also have their own miniature ones with safe mini decorations too, keeps them busy...

We put ours on a small coffee table, with only non breakable things hanging on the bottom third.

Tell them not to touch it. Keep reinforcing the same message. If they repeatedly touch it then it is put away.
