13 year old boy

I'm doing one of those gift tree things and all that was left was a single teenage boy. It's a request from womans aid so obviously the family have been through stuff.

What can i get a 13 year old boy that he would enjoy and make him feel like he fits in? I don't want to just do smelly stuff.

So far I've got the idea of a bottle of prime (might be outdated now but was all the rage not long ago)

Lego? Hoodie, thermos flask

Topbird29 · 15/11/2024 17:05

An oodie type hooded fleece - but not an actual one due to price! Got some off amazon this year for my DS, but they are available in lots if shops for around £15. Like a hug. Maybe wrap a packet if sweets / bar of chocolate too?

Or maybe a box filled with treats/snacks?

tryingtocatchthewind · 15/11/2024 17:13

My 13 year old loves his primark fake ooodie or fleecy PJs and fluffy socks. Junky sweets go down well, like the awful toxic waste things or juicy drop pops.

KittenOnTheTable · 15/11/2024 17:16

Thank you for your great ideas. Last year I did one for a boy similar in ages to my three so was easy. Would a Xmas card be cringy? Just think they might not get many. Though these days not alot of people still do them

Are you allowed to put vouchers in? I'm sure mine were around that age when they were hanging out with their mates more and a Greggs voucher went down well? If so, that could be a nice surprise in the Christmas card 🤔

Qwerty21 · 15/11/2024 17:37

I think primes more of a tween thing? I'd say oodie, Lego, lynx, chocolate, a card game for ages 10+. I decided against cards in mine as the adults might want to gift it as from them rather than a charity gift if you get me

KittenOnTheTable · 15/11/2024 18:17

Ohh good idea with the card and if they was going to put it from someone else. OK so prime. I'm worried if I get a voucher they'll not have shops that take them. If they are rural or whatever. Budget upto £50 if that makes a difference?

13 is a tricky age , they are either still enjoying things like legos or are into trainers and hoodies. vouchers like JD sport, primark , maybe even tesco? I’d add some chocolates instead of a card.

KittenOnTheTable · 15/11/2024 18:29

Yeah deffo an awkward age. Probably why he was the only one left to pick up.
Deffo going to get an oodie type thing from primark. Might get a love to shop voucher or something. And some sweets/chocolate

I'm not sure how far out the gift goes so don't know what they'd be able to get with a gift voucher. I'm in a small town in Scotland

I've got a 13 yo and he is into the Lynx gift sets!
Lots of brilliant options with a festive feel.
Touchscreen gloves ?
Mine drinks coffee, so the coffee syrups are quite good.

Angelik · 15/11/2024 20:47

Wireless ear buds. £50 is what we paid for our 13year old ds to have them last year. Of course, assumes has a phone and data.

EllaPaella · 15/11/2024 22:21

I have a 13 year old ds. I haven't started shopping yet but some ideas of what I think he'd like and what i'm likely to buy as stocking fillers/small gifts:
Slipper socks
Nike sport socks
Under amour boxers
Aftershave dupe of JPG (FM do good ones)
A book
Guitar picks and music
Vinyl
Decent travel mug (probably Yeti as I have one and they are literally bullet proof and last forever).
I guess it depends on what they're into. Mine is nearly 14 and a keen snowboarder, into skateboarding, plays guitar, football, boxing and gaming. He's also doing D of E so maybe some survival type kit.
He always loves PJ's and those Oddie things- can't go wrong with them!
He's asked for a pinboard for his bedroom this year as well to do a photo collage.

KittenOnTheTable · 16/11/2024 11:45

Thank you for the great suggestions. In town today so will see what I find 😊

Womens Aid refuge staff always asked me to buy for this age group boys as they are always the least donated category. Their suggestion was a cinema voucher which always went down well.
Also my own grandsons liked Lynx as well as Zara's own sets.

caringcarer · 16/11/2024 21:21

Sports Direct voucher. £25 goes a long way there and could probably get some trainers.

Lynx packs with body wash and deodorant seems to go down well with a lot of teen boys. They see that advert with girls chasing them and seem to think it might make them a girl magnet.

Selection pack.

Lego

My teen was into sport and I think he got a fake Fitbit at 13.

Superman socks

Love to shop are the worst vouchers to get.

EasyComfortDishes · 16/11/2024 21:29

Aftershave - looking in TikTok, Diesel seems popular
Nike/adidas sports socks (white)
Beanie, Nike
punch bag that suckers on to something
basketball

twilightermummy · 16/11/2024 21:30

JPG elixir is what they all seem to want...sure you could find a dupe
Nike socks a good shout by above poster
Sports direct voucher
A screaming goat
Snacks such as pringles and pot noodles

Needanewname42 · 17/11/2024 00:18

I'd get either Star Wars or Technic Lego.
Give him something to do over the holidays.
I just think gift cards are a bit boring and a fair percentage go unused.

But I'd agree 13 yo boys aren't easy to buy for. Not all are into labelled sports gear.

mrsconradfisher · 17/11/2024 07:51

Lynx Set
Nike Socks
Northface Tshirt
Zara Aftershave
Wallet
Oodie from Primark
Nike Water bottle

Basically anything that makes him look cool especially if he doesn’t normally have those things.

I have a 13 year old and he suggested the above list.
