Presents for a Newborn?

I’m having a baby imminently… baby girl! And it’s just hit me I’ve bought my 2 year old presents - he’ll be totally into Christmas this year and although my 3-4-5 week old will have no clue… I feel awful that I haven’t got her anything at all?! (Ps- clothes don’t count lol)

Any ideas??

My ds was only a couple of months old his first Xmas so I ended up buying him a play mat with the soft toys and other things dangling above it. He absolutely loved it 😍 you haven't really got to worry too much as they really don't understand the concept of Xmas anyway 😁

I wouldn’t stress about it, she won’t understand, but if you do want there to be something for her then does she already have the toys/development bits for the next stage? My daughter will be nearly 9 months old by Christmas and I’ve just bought all the next stage of toys she will need as her “christmas presents”. It’s things I would have needed to buy anyway like a walker, more weaning bits and cups, activity table etc! So if you don’t already have things like a play mat, the contrast cards, ribbons, sensory toys etc maybe buy those and put them out “for Christmas”? X

The younger one won't care but it'll be important that the older one sees the younger getting presents. Just buy things the new baby needs (new clothes, new dummies). Make them functional.

Books. You can always buy ones that actually your 2 year old is more interested in and then ‘read’ to both of them together

I had a newborn and a 2 year old last Christmas and I can confirm that (a) the newborn didn't get any presents from me, and (b) the 2 year old didn't notice and wouldn't have cared if he had! Think the baby got presents from family though.

Lots of books and a baby activity mat, a soft rattle, a projector

A bauble with x's first Xmas

For a Gdd born in very early January I bought a special-for-babies sheepskin from Celtic. Not cheap but lovely for a baby to lie on.

In later years, popular for the doll’s pram, and with their cats!!
