What are you having for your dessert?
Can't decide. We normally have 2 choices.

Always make Nigella’s clementine cake as it can be made in advance and keeps lovely and moist
i buy an as pudding and chocolate log

Pinkkisugarmouse · 10/11/2024 19:48

I think I’m going to buy some lovely vegan torte from a local restaurant rather than make one. We probably won’t eat until much later as a sort of supper. DH can choose his own desert, same with adult DD who will be staying with us.

Christmas Pudding with brandy cream or brandy butter

Brandy baskets with lemon fool and berries on Boxing Day

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 10/11/2024 20:17

Dd is bringing a Chocolate Buché de Noel with black sesame insert from the Patisserie she works at. Tbh though we rarely have pudding.

TianasBayou · 10/11/2024 20:37

Usually do raspberry trifle but there's a recipe for raspberry trifle fridge cake in the December Oliver magazine which looks fun. And easier to serve!

And Christmas pudding with homemade rum butter.

Flubadubba · 10/11/2024 20:43

Christmas pud for those who like it. Risalamande (Rice pudding mixed with whipped cream/vanilla/chopped almonds,
with a hidden almond, as per Danish tradition) for those who didn't grow up with christmas pud and hate it.

AxolotlEars · 10/11/2024 21:21

Definitely pomegranate panna cotta. Then either lemon meringue pie or chocolate mousse

StrawberryWater · 10/11/2024 21:24

M&S yule log and a home made x-mas cake are main puddings. There will also be a trifle and a chocolate mousse (might do choc orange but haven't decided yet).

Just Christmas Pudding and custard. We are traditionalists on this.

I do the classic pudding as handed down by St Delia of Norwich (Blessed Be Her Name) and make it on Stir Up Sunday. 8 hours steaming!

Then we reheat that and set it on fire and so on.

Thing is, we probably can only manage about a third of it on Christmas day, so I end up using the rest in Christmas Pudding ice cream and usually freeze a wedge to reheat at a later date.

It is bloody nice though.

YuliaJollyberry · 11/11/2024 01:13

A choice of:
Homemade flambé Christmas pudding, iced rum sauce, rum butter.
Steamed pudding thinking ginger, scoop of vanilla ice cream, mini gingerbread shape.
Pandoro dusted in icing sugar, whipped cream, winter berries.
And a jelly of some sort.

Gingerisgoodforyou · 11/11/2024 01:21

Raspberry trifle at tea time. We're always too full after lunch!

And a cake to eat over a few days - none of us are fruitcake fans so will pick another and put Xmas Dec's on top.

I always buy a Christmas pudding, usually for boxing day when we're less full from main meal.

Forgottenmyphone · 11/11/2024 05:52

Christmas pudding and either Black Forest trifle or Ferrero rocher cheesecake

ChristmasMovieTime · 11/11/2024 06:06

Gingerbread cheesecake
Lemon cheesecake
Mince pies
Christmas pudding.

All vegan.

thelittlestbird · 11/11/2024 06:40

I usually make a Bakewell tart but I'll be 38 weeks pregnant on Xmas day so not sure how much I'll feel like doing it!

Have ordered an M&S tiramisu cheesecake thing, and will probably do some fruit based thing too. Maybe pavlova.

XiCi · 11/11/2024 06:51

Black forest trifle sounds delicious 😋. We always have Xmas pudding then let the kids choose a dessert, which this year is Sainsbury's snowman shaped cheesecake

Dreamingofgreece · 11/11/2024 07:16

We are having an ice cream cake this year from an amazing local ice cream company who specialise in them

kiraric · 11/11/2024 07:40

Christmas pud. I love it!

gaggiagirl · 11/11/2024 07:52

Sticky toffee pudding, chocolate or black Forest trifle both home made and a cheesecake from m&s.
Or
Homemade chocolate mint cheese cheese an m&s chocolate trifle and home made sticky toffee pudding

GettingStuffed · 11/11/2024 08:54

DS normally makes the pudding as his contribution to the day.

Gingerbread cheesecake
Lemon cheesecake

Please would you share a recipe for these 2 if you have
Gingerbread cheesecake
Lemon cheesecake
🙏😋

itsnotalwaysthateasy · 11/11/2024 22:48

I have a craving for Viennetta! We aren't keen on Christmas puddings. I have already bought some Baileys eclairs.

Gingerbread cheesecake
Lemon cheesecake
Mince pies
Christmas pudding.

All vegan.

The Vegan gingerbread cheesecake sounds intriguing. Where do you buy it? Or can I please have the recipe? 😋

FloralMoon · 14/11/2024 22:40

My Mum always makes a traditional Christmas pud and then whoever is hosting usually buys something like a chocolate Yule log or roulade for those of us who don’t like the pud.

Binman · 14/11/2024 22:50

Oh I want that ginger pud and gingerbread man now never mind Christmas.

For Christmas Day DH makes ginger and lime cheesecake.
BF make's Christmas pudding and every year DD has M&S chocolate fudge cake melted in the microwave.

With selections of creams, sauces and ice cream.

FiveWhatByFiveWhat · 15/11/2024 06:01

I'm cooking for 8 this year and so far -

Dad is bringing a Christmas pud.

Me and D's are making a sponge cake (chocolate orange victoria) that D's will gleefully decorate with Christmas type sprinkles etc.

My brother who works at Ocado will bring 2 "fancy deserts" from the company shop - one to serve on the day and another (ridiculous decadent chocolate type affair) just for us hosts to pig out on at boxing day 🤣
