Hello folks, I hope you can help. I've always spent Christmas with my parents and used to have Christmas shopping days with my mum etc cook the lunch together.
Sadly I lost my mum 5 years ago at Christmas and now my dear dad has also just passed.
I'm literally dreading Christmas now and don't know what to do to make a new normal festive period. DH isn't particularly Christmassy and I've one son whose 19 who lives at home still.
Thank you for reading x

gosh this will be hard. we are dealing with one bereavement and it feels like christmas is looming.

we are toying with going to a
beach a few hours away for a dog walk and having a picnic rather than the standard
christmas.

but it's hard to know what's for the best xx

I think it’s important to speak to your husband and son and see what is important to them, and after taking that into account, think hard about what will work for you.

me and my mum would always go Christmas shopping as soon as the pumpkin spice lattes came out. She loved them so having one and doing the shopping is my own christmas tradition I have continued, and it feels like she is with me. I also continue my parents’ tradition of not opening the Christmas food till we’ve all stopped work/school and watched a Christmas movie. These little things really helped me.
I hope you find some joy x
