Looking for popular solo board games/card games for a teenager. Looking for something not more than £20.

My nan used to play patience with a deck of cards on her own.

I don't know any solo board games but a hopeful bump for you.

Solitaire? The one with the marbles.

Single player games are always tricky - I’ve been looking for some and haven’t found much that’s genuinely designed for the solo player.

What about something like this?

EdithGrantham · 03/11/2024 11:12

What Next? can be played solo but it is more fun when played multiplayer

Thanks for this. He's had a few of these in the past. It is tricky - even the adventure books games seem to be for more than 1 player

I like playing bananagrams solo (depends if they're into word games or not!)

Rush Hour?
Genius Star?
The Happy Puzzle Company often have some good things

Rantypanties · 03/11/2024 11:21

What about one of those murder mystery cases from Cryptic Killers? They’re £20 on Amazon but I’ve found good quality second hand for cheaper on Vinted.

CabbagesAndCeilingWax · 03/11/2024 11:23

Cluedo has a murder mystery type board game that is great fun for one player. But once it's done, it's done, so it's pretty expensive!

Shut the box! It's a game you play with 2 dice and can play on your own or with others if you like.

Have a look at the "solo" section for some suggestions here but some may(will!) be above your budget.

Things like the EXIT or Unlock series (sort of like an escape room at home) can usually be done solo. Or roll/flip and write games can be played solo (e.g. Railroad Inc). I like MicroMacro Crime city and we also have Coffee Roaster which is quite fun.
