What is everyone buying for their teen girls. You lot always know what is cool when it comes to hoodies and trainers but also what smaller presents are you buying?
so far I have perfume - sol de janeiro - and a bracelet from Missoma. I like to buy lots of smaller presents and I’ve learned not to waste money on things I like but she won’t! xx

Mine are younger and older but I find a good gift for that age if they like makeup/skincare is a ‘flat lay co’ makeup bag. They lie completely flat (hence the name!) and has a drawstring to pull it closed - genius!
Room diffusers and essential oils is another nice gift I think which both of mine have asked for in the past
Real techniques makeup brushes

Jettyspaghetti · 01/11/2024 07:54

DD is 15.
She has asked for a white fox hoodie (in ocean blue)
Airpod pros
Apple watch
Dyson airwrap or good curlers
SO! Body wash
Victoria secret spray
Pandora bracelet as hers is too small
Colouring book
Alcohol markers
Fluffy pjs

I've found Christmas the last few years quite transactional. She's given me a list, I've bought the things on the list and she's always very grateful- but there's no surprise anymore because I have to check sizing and colour if buying clothes. Or double check scent if buying sprays.

coffeeandteav · 01/11/2024 08:00

White fox tracksuit
Victoria secret underwear
A cameo video from an actor she likes
P louise lip stuff
A thing for sticking her phone to the wall.

siucra · 01/11/2024 16:12

Thank you all... I'm buying very similar to you all. But no clothes as I get it wrong. But yes to perfumes, diffusers and jewellry x

Dd15 has asked for
victoria secrets spray
sol de jan spray
rhode lip balm
clinique black honey lip stick
hair masks
Erborian primer
the ordinary skincare
pink elvive hair stuff
fluffy socks
banana type hair clip
satin sleep bonnet
cuticle oil

hello kitty pjs

she wont get it all but lots for me to choose from. She also wants some trainers and jumpers

Alpolonia · 01/11/2024 17:45

Dior make up (lip oil, balms) and perfume - pricey but beautifully packaged if you buy direct from them. They do nice gift sets.

benefit makeup
blanket with sleeves
pjs/slippers
jewellery
Books

Gifts are supposed to be thoughtful. Do you not know your 16 year old very well. Why not think of something she will appreciate a lot rather than something bought so she can fit in and feel less insecure

That's a very expensive list , hope you have deep pockets .

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 01/11/2024 18:58

16 year olds are pretty individual. What are her interests?

Mine turns 16 just before Christmas so the list includes both events. She would like

Paleo which is a board game
Lego. Things like the plum blossom or Star wars helmets.
Waterproof fineliners
Books. Lots of books.
Nice origami paper
A flint knapping lesson
The most recent D&D rule book

avaritablevampire · 01/11/2024 20:34

Wood whittling kit.
Osprey backpack.

Stocking:
Survival blanket
Survival skills hand book
Compass
OS map
First aid kit refill.

I was just wondering what others were buying, that’s all. I love thinking of what to buy her and just like to come up with a few surprises.

I know, we had a conversation in which I asked her what she wanted for Christmas and her reply was 'honestly mate, not a lot, I don't need anything' then slowly the 'ooh for Christmas can I have' has started creeping in.

My mum's got her the air pods, and she won't be getting an air wrap, because I bought her GHD straighteners and a hairdryer for her birthday and Xmas last year- I am only slightly tempted to buy it for myself though.

IggyAce · 02/11/2024 13:37

My dd is 18 and over the last couple of years she’s asked for similar to pp.
Some hits that have been surprises are silk pillowcase, theatre tickets to see Wicked.
My dd also enjoys afternoon tea and so I often book one to enjoy together after Christmas.

Singleandproud · 02/11/2024 14:00

Tickets to see Much Ado About Nothing (Tom Hiddlestone and Hayley Atwell)
Suitcase, matching packing cubes and bits for her Feb school trip overseas
Clothes from Disturbia
Skin Care, face masks etc picked up when on sale and will make a bundle up
Nescafé Coffee boxes picked up when cheap and making up a bundle with a new travel cup
Selection of Noodles, sauces and Ramen bowl with chopsticks to make a bundle
Cash both £50 and €100

Jeez. Chill. Sometimes it's just nice to get some inspo.

Gotabadfeelingaboutthis · 02/11/2024 20:55

Watching this thread eagerly. I have to get a secret santa gift for a 17 year old I don't know well - so any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Joyfulincolour · 02/11/2024 21:17

Good thread @siucra
My daughter's birthday is in January so ideas are always welcomed.
I'm off to look upba wood whittling kit - great suggestion that I wouldn't have thought of 😊

This is a strange comment? Where does OP say she wants to make her daughter feel less insecure?

Though if a Christmas gift could make someone feel secure, wouldn't we all want that for our children?

Anyway, my DD is younger than this but quite grown up for her age, and I have got her:

Tickets for a West End show and a hotel stay in London, plus for an exhibition while we are there.

And some smaller stuff including:
Fluffy pink shorts, top and dressing gown set
Novelty stationery from the Kenji store (cute Japanese-inspired designs - we both love the store).
Kenji coasters
A few other bits for her room - a blanket and cushion for her bed (we have recently moved so I'd be getting her new stuff for her room anyway, but I am saving some bits I think she will really love for Xmas).
A few pin badges - she collects them
A bit of chocolate and candy
Couple of second hand paperback novels that caught my eye
Some posher than usual toiletries
A baking mold I picked up in a charity shop (she loves baking).

Think that's it. I know it's quite a lot, but she's been amazing this year - an absolute rock through some tough times. There is nobody and nothing I would rather spend my money on.

I went for the £29 gift set from Next (set of 4). There are cheaper offers though.
