Yes, Christmas lists get boring in your thirties...

I want a really nice reusable coffee cup for Christmas. Searched all previous threads and not really saw anything fitting. Please can everyone recommend in their view the best cup which is/can:

  • keep coffee hot longest (the dream is a cup where I can make my coffee at bedtime and wake up with it still hot....)
  • dishwasher proof
  • doesn't leak
  • bonus looks pretty - not essential but always nice for a gift.

Contigo, they have a few designs I have the Byron which was recommended on here a few years ago and it's never leaked.

Saschka · 19/10/2024 18:47

Hydroflask with the coffee lid. Pricey, but fits all your requirements and comes in very pretty colours.

EndofDaze · 19/10/2024 18:51

Yeti rambler with hotshot lid.

RomainingToBeSeen · 19/10/2024 20:30

Contigo. Mine stays really hot for 6+ hours and still drinkable after 8 hours.

Berga · 19/10/2024 20:33

Definitely Contigo. Bought DP one several years ago and it's still going strong, keeps drinks hot and doesn't leak.

Vimaybe · 20/10/2024 18:45

Thank you all, I currently have a contigo (don't know the range of it - it was on offer in Tesco a while back) but will have a look at some of the others. @Saschka I'll have to look those up, never heard of them tbh!

Anyone used Chillys? I keep seeing mixed reviews...

Yeti Rambler. Doesn't leak and is hot all day.

ClementineSatsuma · 20/10/2024 18:49

Chili

However, you have to keep it upright, unlike the Contigo ones

ClementineSatsuma · 20/10/2024 18:50
  • Chilly's
ramonaquimby · 20/10/2024 18:54

The contigo ones are great but they are fairly pedestrian

User202242 · 20/10/2024 19:16

720 degree on Amazon, brilliant coffee cup, keeps it HOT, and sealed not sure on dishwasher as we don't have one sorry!

chillycat · 20/10/2024 20:06

Ocean Bottle - brilliant

Flowertopz · 20/10/2024 20:10

Ninja … keeps it hot for 8hrs cold for 24hrs ice for 2 days , it’s amazing doesn’t leak and comes in nice colours it’s also dishwasher safe

Vimaybe · 20/10/2024 22:27

@ramonaquimby, your response made me chuckle. You can clearly understand that I demand it all but also need a cup which is easy on the eyes 👀

@Vimaybe haha, I keep checking back as they are my exact requirements too! Treated myself to a v nice one a few years ago, didn't realise the bloody lid didn't have a seal but just an open hole to drink from. So fairly useless really.

Bjorkdidit · 21/10/2024 08:23

Be aware that if you like your coffee properly hot, likely none of them will keep them that hot for that long. When most people say 'hot coffee' they mean lukewarm to people who like very hot drinks.

BoobyDazzler · 21/10/2024 08:36

You might be better off getting a small thermos flask and having a mug by the bed. My thermos will keep coffee hot hot for 8+hours. It isn’t the most attractive thing in the world, but it works.

Bobbyelvis4ever · 21/10/2024 13:03

My nespresso cup has been known to have ice or hot coffee in it at the end of the day when I'm running from pillar to post and don't get a chance to drink it. Not overly pretty, but dishwasher safe

Vimaybe · 22/10/2024 19:06

@Bjorkdidit ahh good point, I've done that closed minded thing of assuming everyone thinks like me. Drinking boiling coffee that scalds as it goes down your throat was one of the skills (and pleasures if you do think like me!) That I learnt early on in my maternity leave and is now the only way I drink coffee.

Vimaybe · 22/10/2024 19:10

@BoobyDazzler thank you that's probably what I actually need I'll have a scout around. I only usually get 6-7 hours sleep so I'm sure there must be one out there that can cope.

It's only so my toddlers super sonic hearing doesn't pick up me waking up and I get half an hours peace to get ready with a coffee 😂

I've got a Chillys. I find it excellent, got the bigger one, it's the size of a lager can. Really like it, burnt my mouth more than once. Still piping hot a couple of hours later. I've usually drunk it slowly by then to be able to say if it will last longer but if it's anything like the drinks bottles/food flasks it will. I imagine warming it first with boiling water would also help. Small drinking aperture helps with heat retention. If you can find a student pretty sure they're on unidays for 10% off too.

BODUM. goes in the dishwasher, doesn't leak provided you rambert to close the lid! Easy to clean, keeps drinks very hot and have used mine frequently for I think nearly 2 years and no sign of wear.

mdinbc · 22/10/2024 22:54

I find a lot of mugs made for large hands, which is why the contigo is still my favourite. DH has a Yeti, twice the price of a Contigo, but it is not spill proof and it too large around for me to hold comfortably. I prefer no handle to fit in the car cup holder.

The Contigo with with the 'waist' shape and squeeze opening. West Loop I think.

hexsnidgett · 22/10/2024 22:57

If you like your coffee really hot, maybe a programmable coffee machine is the answer?
