As the title says dd is obsessed and has asked for her presents theme* to be architect based this year.

I'm planning on getting some kapla and perhaps a book or two but other than that I'm stuck.

We already have
A ridiculous amount of lego, duplo, wooden bricks and magnatiles.
Wooden cabin building kits and teifoc bricks
Lots of art materials
Dolls houses

*When dc1 was little I thought theming our presents to them was a lovely idea! I quickly learnt the error of that but it's tradition!!

Does she play Minecraft? My ds has created some amazing architecture on that, it's very creative and they learn about using different materials. He's made complex pulley systems and all sorts.
You can turn off 'survival mode' so that she only has access to the creative parts of the game. My ds plays on ps5 but they're are versions for pc, iPad and all consoles.

I wanted to be an architect at 8
I am an architect now with my own practice
Brutal career choice but I still love it
The Royal Institute of British Architects have a children's section in their bookshop
www.ribabooks.com/childrens-books
There are some great books in there
Portland Place RIBA HQ has some great architecture workshops for kids www.architecture.com/whats-on/family-workshop-blueprints
If you're not in London there is also RIBA North in Liverpool,
The Architecture Centre in Bristol & the Farrell Centre in Newcastle which all do stuff for families & kids - although you will have to check what they have on and when
There may be others but that's what comes to readily to mind
Good luck

More engineery but relevant - kiwi box bridge/skyscraper kit.

Wonkylegs how wonderful to know from a young age what you want to do and to be doing it. And most importantly that you love it despite it being so demanding. What brilliant ideas for OP too.

Thank you. Some great ideas. We will definitely be getting Kapla, the books and I like the look of the kiwi boxes and Engino kits. I'll look into a drawing table. Camerawise, she has a children's one and loves taking pictures but we'll look at an upgrade.

Unfortunately we are nowhere near London, nor Bristol, Liverpool or Newcastle. We will be going to Paris and Amsterdam next year though and thanks to a book she found in the library, we have a list of buildings to visit.

She does play minecraft and builds really beautiful complex buildings with stained glass, rivers running through them and rooftop gardens.
