Does anyone have a tried and tested lebkuchen recipe? I would really like to try and make some but preferably from a reliable recipe! Thanks 😊

I don’t have one, but I’m also on the lookout for one!

We tried one last year but it wasn't as good as the shop bought ones (too much peel). We did notice that the absence of the rice paper on the bottom made a big difference to the taste.

Has anyone tried this recipe?https://www.supergoldenbakes.com/lebkuchen-recipe/ it looks the closest to what I imagine to be the correct taste.

Hopefully someone more experienced (or who has used that recipe) will be along to help us 🤣 I was in two minds if this would have been better on the food boards but I've seen some people describe the things they make at Christmas on this one and thought there may be some bakers about!

@Sajacas thank you! Do you stick with rye flour? (I hope google has translated that correctly or you'll have no idea why I'm asking, it did say to use driving salt as well haha.)

This one is yum and easy to make. It's from the GBBO Christmas book a few years ago.

Thanks! I can now have a bit of an experiment and see if I can make some myself 😆

I'm going to try the pink whisk one - will let you know what happens! Am tempted to try the Betty Bossi one too :-)

Following as I’d like to try some, dh grew up in Germany and we buy them every year.

I like the ones you get with the apricot jam in the middle, but I think that's possibly running before I can walk in the bakery area haha.
