How to decorate without a Christmas tree?

I'm having a home birth and my baby is due at Christmas, so we dare not get a tree this year (we have a very small house and I'm having a birthing pool)

Really sad about it! Have thought about getting an artificial one but money is tight too

One thought I had was I could get a wreath for my front door. I had one last year that I got from a local place and it was gorgeous

Any ideas? We have a multi fuel burner but no mantle

I got this last year from Homebase, I had a puppy so didn't want to tempt fate by putting a tree up!

what’s on your chimney? Can you hang fairy lights?

Can you hang another wreath on the chimney, maybe with lights!

@RedRobyn2021

Would you like to make your own wreath, OP?

Triangle Nurseries have video tutorials online which include how to make a Christmas Wreath.

They also have a Christmas Table arrangement tutorial - the one they are shown making is quite large, but you could use it for inspiration to do something smaller for yourself.

@Cocolapew thanks for this I’ve just ordered! I normally have a teeny plastic tree as my house is
so small I can’t be doing with a tree, (it gives me the rage very quickly!), but this will help add a Christmassy vibe!

We stopped having a christmas tree a few years ago, for some different reasons. I miss it, but we still have lovely decorations.

Where the tree would have been we instead have a small table with flowers on. It can vary from year to year, but flower arrangements with christmas flowers like amaryllis, poinsettias, hyacinths, etc.
Above it we hang (from the ceiling) a wreath of straw and red ribbons, like a crown above it all.

Maybe I'm explaining it badly, but it looks lovely!

I don;t have a tree since we got the cats ( tried but they ransack it)
I have those long swag thingies winding along the bannister (hall and stairs) and a prelit wreath hanging over the landing
Lights wound round . Some battery some plug in.

One on top of kitchen cupboards where there;s a space at the top.
Lots of LED candles , nice ones with realistic flames effect , in glass cylinder vases

We are away at Christmas so we’ve bought this to put on a side table at our holiday home

Do you have a budget you could give as a guide?

We have what I call the twiggy tree that we use if we're going to be away - like the pic. Not great but you can hang baubles on it if you want to.

Definitely look into getting a wreath if budget allows.

Do you have plants? If so, could you add fairy lights to any of them? (The last couple of years I've added a cheap set of battery lights to my cactus Xmas Grin)

Lights - around windows/strewn around the place.
Candles have a similar effect for me - twinkly and cosy straight away.

Christmas cushion covers/throw can also make a room look festive.
