Christmas morning, to get in the mood, our two teens love nothing more than starting the day whilst the adults are having a quiet coffee, to throw things at each other up and down our stairs.

So we put something in their stockings that will survive this joyful time!

Last year they had flickable stretchy turkeys, which we still have, finger toys.

They need to be soft, bit can aim, stocking present size. The faster they fly the better. Nothing that will mean a trip to A&E Christmas morning because it's gone in someone's eye!

Any suggestions?

Honestly the crazier the better.

They are more than willing to use the long, empty tubes of wrapping paper as baseball bats if that helps!

I had small rubber chickens from Flying Tiger in the stockings last year. In fact they are stuck to my kids' ceilings right now. But maybe that is too similar to your rubber turkeys.

Would fluffy socks do it? Then they could also wear them afterwards?

Not stocking sized, but the game Throw Throw Burrito. You could take the Burrito (projectiles) out and pop them in the stockings and wrap the rest of the game.

If you already have that game, there are a couple of others by the same people - Throw Throw Avocado, I think.

It[s American, but you can get it everywhere:

No idea, just commenting to say this is the best Christmas tradition I've heard of yet!

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 09/10/2024 12:28

You can buy snowballs from B&M I think. It wouldn't be Christmas here without an indoor 'snowball' fight! Not crazy, but frantic fun 🤣

You can get actual glider guns that shoot larger foam glider planes (which light up) on Amazon - as long as they don’t aim for the face they’ll be fine!

DoublePeonies · 09/10/2024 12:35

I've been beaten to my suggestion of snowballs!

Popopopipipi · 09/10/2024 12:40

I've bought about a hundred rubber chickens since last Christmas. DH hid at least 2 packs of 30 of those somewhere and claims not to know where. We have had endless fun with them.

you've just reminded me I need new ones this year.

We've had these for years they are a huge hit, literally. We have a small party for our DCs every year with their school friends and they love nothing more than teaming up and having snowball fights.

i buy from homebargins.

frozendaisy · 09/10/2024 13:21

Could be snowball baseball this year!

I think the other stretchy toys are too similar to last year.

Anyone found a soft outer, light up snowball ball? That could survive a cardboard tube bashing!

No idea, just commenting to say this is the best Christmas tradition I've heard of yet!

They started it themselves when they were about 6 & 4 and it's been going string ever since!

I think it's their favourite part of the day to be fair. Hence the importance of including something in their stockings as "ammo against sibling"....peace and goodwill and all that.

A packet of Christmas themed paper plates each might work. Am thinking that they could throw them like a frisbee.
Beach balls, although might not be able to throw them fast enough.
Juggling balls.

BabyElephantish · 09/10/2024 16:39

I can't think of anything to suggest just at the moment, but I wanted to say I love this tradition and it has brought back a great memory of my brothers and I throwing whole walnuts in shells and raw sprouts at each other one Christmas morning. Parents had put some in the bottom of our stockings that year 😁
So painful but so funny 🤣

JaninaDuszejko · 09/10/2024 16:54

Another vote for the fake indoor snowballs, they are great fun. We have them out for all of December and everyone loves them.

frozendaisy · 10/10/2024 20:03

A box of 20 indoor snowballs from Home Bargains today.
If I come across anything further then I can keep until next year or decide.

They are getting x10 each 20 snowballs is plenty to attempt to keep under control!

Many thanks everyone always good to get ideas flowing with folk who want to talk about this, largely irrelevant stuff, and whilst their dad loves the stairway chaos he is useless at ideas (most of the time). Will leave the wrapping paper tubes handy Christmas morning as well!
