8 maids a milking

A few years ago I started buying beautiful baubles that were loosely connected to the 12 Days of Christmas song (think more John Lewis ‘beautiful’ than the eBay 12 Days of Christmas centrepiece ‘beautiful’ - iykyk)

I’m down to the trickiest ones now, and just feel really stuck on 8 maids a milking. I’ve found a carton of oat milk and a highland cow but they just aren’t my idea of ‘beautiful’. Any creative and beautiful ideas anyone? I’ll pop what I have already below;

vintage golden pear
iridescent white dove
copper hen
glass robin
golden bell
(not found my goose a laying yet)
Roccoco swan
(not found maid a milking yet)
gold dancing slippers
wooden jumping nutcracker
gold cherub with a pipe
* (not found a drummer yet)

thanks in advance!

Have you looked at Liberty's?

Feather ornament might stand in for a goose: www.libertylondon.com/uk/blue-feather-christmas-bauble-000810377.html#pos=71

Or their white bird: www.libertylondon.com/uk/white-bird-christmas-ornament-000810266.html#pos=48

Or their frosted white feather: www.libertylondon.com/uk/frosted-feather-christmas-bauble-000810248.html#pos=40

Also a rather lovely swan for others who were asking: www.libertylondon.com/uk/white-swan-christmas-ornament-000810303.html#pos=36
Or Rococo swan: www.libertylondon.com/uk/rococo-swan-leaf-ornament-000809324.html#pos=112

No drums or cows or milkmaids that I could see though.

Just to say how much I absolutely love this idea

I don’t have an answer Op but I’m laughing at the memory of the, erm, spectacular eBay version!

I love Liberty, I’ve got a couple from there. My swan is from there, the one you’ve linked 😊

I imgine Lladro might have several beautifully appropriate things (just googled "lladro milkmaid" and there are loads but they won't be cheap).
IIRC they also do geese and swans........

Chocdown · 09/10/2024 20:58

@MrsMacGregor gosh they are lovely!

@Hobbesmanc thanks! That’s the one that I think looks odd in the photo (it’s the eyes I think) but might look great irl

@Hobbesmanc

I've not seen that site before, although I have a Nutcracker I quite like the King Rat - I may need to have him as well

The style or the crafting might not be up your street but Corinne Lapierre does kits for the 12 days of Christmas, can buy them individually.

I love finding pre loved decorations, here are a couple of suggestions from ebay:

Both quite different.

Not sure if they will be your style but worth a try!

@Hihihello193 I didn't know Wedgewood did tree decorations. I would have thought they'd be too heavy and break the branch.

I looked at your link and Ebay led me to more Wedgewood ones. There's a cute holly one

I think it's because the eyes are gold. If you coloured them with a black marker or replaced with a black bead it wouldn't have that creepiness.

Thank you to everyone who posted and some wonderful ideas. To update, I went to Disneyland and impulsively bought an Ariel bauble - she’s a merMAID (chortle chortle).
