I kept the last one for thirty years and hope that placates plastic haters. Any tips for good prelim 7 ft trees? - this one will see me out so I want something nice to look at. Budget £180 ish

I bought ours from The Range, in store, last Christmas & am really pleased with it. It's not pre-lit but they did have some that were, & it stands at about 7ft tall. It's really nice & was maybe £150 ish.

I love that you've used it for 30yrs. When I bought my artificial one 15 years ago I read that you have to used them for 30yrs before they become sustainable or something. So I'm halfway with mine.

It was a good tree, but was bought for a specific space in a much smaller house than where I’m living now (and was falling apart on one side) …wasn’t salvageable. I’ve nearly broken myself realising that we may have also skipped all of our cherished decs that my kids made in the defunct Xmas tree box. Am now telling 20 year old kids they have to recreate a macaroni and gold card star for the top of the new one.

@Purplepeoniesdroppingpetals oh no, I would be devastated by that. Laughing at the thought of your adult children making macaroni decorations though! Maybe you can console yourself with some fancy new ones. One day when the cat is too old to climb the tree I will buy some nice glass baubles again.

Balsalm Hill, if there isn't an offer on just keep checking for a couple of weeks, there will be.

Got mine from Next, very happy with it

This is ours. We’ve had it for 5 years now and we love it . It’s a 7ft ultra pine one from Christmas Tree World , you can choose pre lit or not. Ours isn’t .

We got a frosty perlite one last year from John Lewis. Very happy with it.

I've had a 7 foot one from John Lewis for the past 6 years. It's a beautiful tree, sturdy and well made!

It was pretty devastating tbh, and was the only thing that seemed to go wrong in the house move. Still clinging to hope that they’re in a box somewhere, but I fear not. I’ve enlisted oldest ds’s lovely girlfriend into project ‘recreate childhood decorations and save menopausal mum’s Christmas’. Thank God for Hrt and lovely young women who get it!
