Stocking fillers for 9yo boy

I always love doing stockings, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to get for my 9 year old son. He's not sporty and doesn't have his own tech.

Does anyone have any great ideas please?

so far, he's getting some Harry Potter themed sweets, a Christmas joke book and some fluffy reindeer socks.

TIA

Lynx, modeling balloons, fidget toys, a comic or marvel graphic novel, novelty pen or pencils, facepaints, hair chalk, light up gloves, heat activated colour changing tshirt, rubix cube,

Things my ds 7 has had that have gone down well:

fossil/gem dig kits,
mini science experiment kits (can get gross ones etc)
lego mini figures,
joke shop stuff (like whoopie cushion, fake pack of gum that sprays water etc)
novelty sweets (ds is really into American sweets at the moment, or b&m do fun weird sweets)
old fashioned stocking stuffers; like fortune telling fish, or those exploding fun snaps etc
alien slime egg (my nephew who’s 12 still enjoys these!)

Yoyo
Christmas tee shirt
Torch
Christmas biscuits
Small puzzles
Book of secret codes & how to crack them
Christmas cracker and Lindt Father Christmas sticking out of the top of the stocking

Stockings come from Father Christmas in our house. Dc1 (9) usually gets some international sweets, a card game of some sort (top trumps always go down well), something to build (lego, knex etc), something to drink that we "normally" don't allow like Coke, a schleich dinosaur and a funko figure.

This year he's discovered spicy noodles so I'm thinking a noodle bowl, chopsticks and a selection of noodles as well.

Things that have gone down well previously include a travel chess set, money box with money in, an umbrella, a morse code book and crystal growing kits.

This is my son's stocking so far (he's 10):

Where's Wally 2025 calendar
Fidget toys
Small crystal growing kit
Pocket microscope
A new scientific calculator
Socks and pjs
Bath smellies and some Lynx
The new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book (not out until October but it's on pre-order)
Sweets
Robux for Roblox

Mine loved a whoopee cushion at a similar age

FourForYouGlenCoco1 · 28/09/2024 07:26

In addition to things already mentioned, a Mega Gross Mini, a Fuggler (The Entertainer has the best selection, and they have become an annual tradition in our house), mug cake mix, B&M have little magnetic sets in their Christmas section where you stack the pieces up (lots of different types)

Linzi2377 · 28/09/2024 07:30

Whoppee cushion,bath bomb,football cards..sharpies x

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 28/09/2024 08:15

Every similar age boy I know is either into pokemon, minecraft, or both.

Pokémon cards
Minecraft keying or small figures blind bag or plush toy
Milkshake straws
Reading light or small torch
Hot chocolate bomb

SilverDoe · 28/09/2024 14:26

Any small bits from Smiggle
Blind bags are popular with all my kids including my 9YO DD; things like mini brands and gross mini brands, etc

Autumnweddingguest · 28/09/2024 14:35

Lego mini figure
grow your own crystals set
sea monkeys
fossil dig kit
kaleidoscope
kazoo
funny novel like Captain Underpants or Diamond Brothers or if he's an advanced reader maybe something like the firs Alex Ryder mystery.
Nice smelling deo spray (NOT Lynx - I wish it was banned. It triggers asthma.)
Bath bomb or bubbles
one of those inflating flannels
An electric toothbrush that plays a rock tune
Pack of cards
mini pen torch
mini penknife if he is a scout or likes outdoor stuff
a squeezy stress ball
A jar of marshmallow fluff or Lotus spread or some pop tarts - the kind of sugar rush you normally tell him to avoid

Gosh, I forgot I had posted! Thank-you so much for all these fabulous ideas. This has really helped me with inspiration. I think I might spend this evening researching and ordering some bits. I'm particularly liking the idea of sea monkeys, a pocket microscope and a mini science kit!

So far for my 9yo non sporty boy's stocking I have:

A silly blow up puffer fish balloon thing from Flying Tiger
A double ended pencil from the RNLI shop
A soft toy christmas tree that was from Card factory in the sale and isn;t jelly cat but looks like it is
A couple of fast food fidget toys from B&M
V small lego set
A reversible narwahl squidgey soft toy (bought ages ago can't remember where)
Some stunt cardboard aeroplanes from the science museum shop
A pocket microscope thing - can't remember where from but maybe also science museum shop
A small game called Don't mention it - not sure where found it in my present cupboard

I will also get chocolate and fluffy socks

Ophy83 · 03/10/2024 18:28

Magic tricks
Bunny vs monkey book
A really strong magnet (my son's obsession!)
A game e.g. taco goat cheese pizza or yahtzee
Preferred sweets/chocolate
Socks and pants (both males in our house are particularly insistent on this like it's the only time of year they can get their undies!)
Gloves/hat
Legami pens

EcoCustard · 03/10/2024 21:48

Ds turns 10 just before Christmas is not into sport (unless formula ), Minecraft or Roblox or most of the stuff his friends are into.

Ideas so far for his stocking:
Mini Mclaren Lego poly bag.
cake mug mix
Another car top trumps.
Coca cola lip balm.
Various sweets.
Pens/notepad
New swim goggles.
Compass.
Michael Morpurgo or Dogman book.
Anything McLaren or Formula 1 related.

MillicentMama · 03/10/2024 22:01

For my 9 year old, his stocking has…

Tin of Pokémon cards (Argos)
Minecraft Xmas socks (Next)
Minecraft hoodie (Asda)
JellyBelly bubble tea set (JL)
Beyblade (TK Maxx)
Bakugan (Home Bargains)
Bubble tea packet (Tesco)
Slime in tin (Home Bargains)
Minecraft water bottle (Argos)
Aerobie Lite (Amazon)

I’ve gone over budget, so not counting the hoodie cost. The stocking is bigger than expected, so it’s needed to stuff the toe 🤦🏼‍♀️

Loving this thread as I'm struggling with finding stuff that is less babyish - have a six year old as well so trying to differentiate them a bit. I'd like to get a little perfume as he loves spraying smells - Zara had hulk etc ones. I tend to bulk out stockings with bath stuff, they've got some cool novelty soaps on Etsy and a Christmas bath bomb. But that's more feeding my interest rather than his. I try to cover all the senses.
One of those light up gyroscope things.
A NASA jigsaw of an astronaut which is apparently glow in the dark.
A squeezy penguin.
A wooden build your own aeroplane.
Usually some socks from a Christmas section somewhere.
I might throw a chocolate orange in this year. Maybe a music box thing and some sweets.
