Talk to me about doll babies...

DD's list (3) currently consists of everything you'd imagine on an expectant parents amazon wishlist...but the thing we're hearing about more than anything is a dolly car set/carrier type thing where you can strap dolly in and carry them around.

She's currently playing with a Tiny Tears doll circa 1990, which seems to be doing the trick, but we're considering getting a second doll to go with the seat so thought I'd ask the mn hivemind their fave baby doll toys /brands for this age and slightly beyond. Is it baby annabel? my generation? Something else? Or mixing and matching? Any baby dolls/activities your little ones are loving?

DD is 6 and still loves her two My Generation ones

My daughter (3) loved her baby annabel she got at christmas. she has long hair she can brush and outfit changes and a few phrases- if you kiss her she blushes, can say no no no which my daughter finds really funny. So yeah, was a big hit. She loves that the eyes close when she lays down to sleep as well.

Wow a talking doll!

I've just started looking and am totally overwhelmed by the options. This it what usually happens...hence the username.

Tiny treasures went down well with my two at that age. Then it was American Girl Dolls which were a whole level of £££££ pain. 3 is too young g for them though.

Thanks for the advice, that's helpful. Gives me something not to look at too!

I think I've watched too many Chucky movies, and now scrolling through dolls is weirding me out 😂Some of them are so flipping realistic too. Changed quite a bit since the late 80's which is the last time I took any notice...

My favourites are definitely the Tiny Treasures ones from Argos.
They are so soft and cuddly. They also fit "small baby" size actual baby clothes.

Flubadubba · 18/09/2024 16:00

DD was nuts for the original baby Anabell, and Cry Babies dolls at that age.

OkyDoke · 18/09/2024 16:16

I'm tempted to get DD an Olli Ella Dinkum doll this year.

They did the rounds a few years ago when DS was small. Super cute accessories etc! Forgot about them 🤗

Edited

There's some new ones with pink/purple hair, fairy wings and a unicorn horn that mine would love, she tells me she's going to have half pink and purple hair when she's a grown up 😂

I’m not sure if you can still get them but my son had a luvabella doll that was soooo creepy but moves and learns to talk, it was amazing!

INeedNewShoes · 19/09/2024 11:53

Corolle dolls are gorgeous. They're very pricey at the RRP but I've managed to buy two at reduced prices at different times.

Don't be put off by the 'vanilla scent'. It's very subtle and not at all troublesome (I'm someone who hates air fresheners and scented candles).

After the initial purchase of the Corolle doll for my daughter I then bought Frillylilly brand dolls clothes rather than Corolle given the price.

I bought one for a friend's daughter nearly ten years ago and it's still in great condition and the sounds still work. I then bought one for my DD three years ago.

Bitty Baby by American girl. They are so beautiful and amazing quality. A lovely history behind them too. Also I find the accessories and clothes to be of such a higher quality compared to others.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 19/09/2024 18:23

My DD (now 6) has been baby doll mad since aged 2. She has far too many and loves them all but her favourites by far have been Baby Annabell (the 43cm one), Baby Born (Magic Girl) and a baby called Sara from a brand called Nenuco. She does like Our Generation as well but I’d stick with a baby doll type for a three year old and save the more sophisticated OG dollies for a year or two.

teddybearsbear · 22/09/2024 09:58

My DD (4) has a baby carrier and a car seat I think both from baby Annabelle
They seemed ridiculously expensive for what they were at the time but she plays with them both for hours and they are much more practical for days out than the pram she has.

mitogoshigg · 22/09/2024 10:06

Get a doll 43cm ish then all the clothes fit, brand doesn't matter then. I found a pushchair with removable car seat for dd

ThisBlueCrab · 22/09/2024 10:09

Baby annabel went down well with dd at that age.

But my biggest tip is go to Smyths or any other toy retailer and look at the dolls. My dd was gifted a few from friends and I kid you not I think they would have frightened chucky! Some of them are awful.

SparkyBlue · 22/09/2024 10:17

Reuben's barn dolls have been a massive hit here. We got one as a gift and now we own several and Santa is bringing them a sibling this year. The "baby" ones actually feel really solid and like a small baby. Plus they are soft so can come to bed with DC at night

Upsadiddles · 22/09/2024 15:22

Both of mine have loved their tiny treasures dolls (although they do develop mad hair and a more creepy look over time)

Needmorelego · 22/09/2024 15:43

@Upsadiddles my daughter decided to remove the hair from one of her Tiny Treasures so we now have a bald one.
My daughter was a bald baby and that doll makes me all emotional (daughter is 16 now.....)😂

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 22/09/2024 15:47

i too came on to mention Corolle dolls. tho @INeedNewShoes beat me to it :)
' we ' still have my daughter's first one - 26 years later.

p.s. I loved the vanilla smell

SonicTheHodgeheg · 22/09/2024 15:49

My dd liked bathing dolls so I picked up a bathable doll with the least creepy face.

Upsadiddles · 22/09/2024 17:58

@Needmorelego i think bald would definitely be an improvement on ours, but then how would DD drag her round by her hair? Grin

Soubriquet · 22/09/2024 17:59

What about baby born?

purpleme12 · 22/09/2024 18:00

Baby Annabel
Hands down

She got her first Baby Annabel at age 3 and she's almost 11 now and still plays with her
