Dd1 turns 18 not long after Christmas & loves a gig as much as I do. So for her 18th birthday, I was going to gift her "a year of gigs" - one she's already booked with me and her sister but doesn't know she'll get the money back, the others to be booked (most will be small and local ones, not all huge Eras Tour type affairs!).

Any interesting ideas to wrap up her gift? Since she'll pick most of the artists?

Tia!

What about getting a custom 2025 calendar made with each month showing a picture of the artist/artists for the concert you have planned that month. You could go through and circle the relevant dates. Not sure if the numbers would work out of course, perhaps a month without a concert you could share a picture of the two of you together and suggest something else you could do together?

Band t shirts. Get your own made if the gigs are super small. You could have them as a calendar with each gig crossed through apart from that days gig?

MrsClausMaybe · 30/08/2024 19:48

As if it were a vinyl record? You could get a ridiculous one from the charity shop and add a note inside.

A t shirt but the hang tag is twelve « tickets »?

A calendar! You can get make-your-own ones printed for not too much. For the pictures, do pics from previous gigs.

Inside a balloon or cracker.

If you are buying them all upfront you could make a year photo calendar and the picture for each month is for the gig she'll be attending.

Ah you're all brilliant, thank you!

I won't be buying far enough in advance for a calendar with pics of the gigs to come. She often appears at the side of me with "have a listen, see if you like them, they're playing at X and it's dirt cheap" - found a nice handful of artists I like that way too (thankfully our musical taste is very similar).

There are a couple of artists I'll be holding out for announcements from too - don't imagine they will tour but they might 🤷‍♀️

I do like that idea though & have plenty of previous pics I could use. Swing tags on a t-shirt is a good idea too - looks like not much at first glance but actually is 🤔

Another thought - a vinyl record of the number 1 song from the day (week/month) she was born? Pop it in a frame and write a note on the back.

lucysmam · 30/08/2024 22:04

Ooh @MrsClausMaybe I wonder what it was! That one's probably the winner.

Hooray! Let us know which idea you go work, I’m invested now.

Could you fashion a scrapbook on the theme of gigs.
On the cover lots of photos from ones that have been attended. Then inside a note to say this is their Year in Gigs.
Then every two pages do a page where the ticket goes, then the page opposite is for a photo(s) from the gig and she can then write best song and/or memory of the gig.
I love to get out an old scrapbook to see what I was doing and who with years ago.

This is so cool! Can you be my mum please?

lucysmam · 31/08/2024 10:29

@Expo23 that's a nice idea, she has a memory wall in her room of gigs she's been to so maybe two books would be good - one for if she ever takes it down, one for next year.

@FitAndFlare sure, why not 🤣(so long as you don't mind random indie gigs in tiny venues!).
