Ideas for teens

I am trying to be more organised this year and I am looking for ideas for DD(13).

What are the trends this year for teens? I lucked out last year and discovered White Fox, Laneige and Sol de Janeiro, none of which I had heard of before.

I have so far acquired a bubble tea set from Oliver Bonas which I know she will like.

My DD perhaps isn't the typical teen, but her lists always include copious amounts of Lego, new books, posters for her room and Harry Potter everything.

She's also in to jewellery making, Eugy puzzles and clothes, but wouldn't have a clue what any of those brands were!

Allaboutmarypoppins · 15/08/2024 10:30

That's like me - books, lego and games I am great with - she has just built the tuxedo cat which she loved. I don't know any of the current trends and thankfully found a thread last year where people had essentially shared their shopping lists which was extremely useful for me. For clothes I stick to Superdry, Hollister etc for her but beyond that 😩

my girls are beauty obsessed now. I’m planning on getting them loads of skin care items.
Last year I got them jars and fill them with compressed facial cloths and sponges. You can get them on amazon and they’re super cute. They love face masks, face steams, micellar water, pimple patches, pore strips, skincare head bands etc
Theyre also into clothes so air force 1s (which everyone wears in school) and tracksuits.
Hair care as well like hair masks and oils, hair bands and clips, new brush.
aside from the beauty things they also like bits for their rooms or quiet time. Himalayan salt lamps, kawaii stationary l, writing books and sketch pads, notice board for school work with cute pins, fairy lights.
The Works is great for cheaper art supplies and books.
Hope that helps!

I have a 13yo dd too and am a bit stuck for ideas like you!

I've bought us tickets for Hamilton just after christmas as she's very into musicals, but I have nothing else and no ideas! The last few years she's had tech but I don't think there's anything she really needs this year. I'd like to have some nice openable gifts as well as just the tickets.

I was thinking maybe some Sol de Janeiro perfume maybe?

I'd ideally like something crafty or useable to keep her busy on Christmas afternoon so she isn't bored.

@Stompythedinosaur you can get photos turned into paint by numbers Would she like something like that? A friend did one and I was surprised by how good it was

Hits with my dd last year were Birkenstocks, reverse tie dye kit and a couple of white oversized t shirts, Starbucks gift card and What Do you Meme game.
Benefit, Morphe, Glossier, Urban Decay and Drunk Elephant for skin care and make up.
Skinny Dip for phone cases, make up bags, tote bags, purses, AirPod cases etc…
Bubble T and Bomb Cosmetics for bath stuff.

Thanks a great idea, I'll have a look for that! Never heard of it before.

Following. I also have a 13 year old dd.

It’s such a different Christmas this year because since then, she has discovered makeup and skincare.
There was a lovely set of 3 Sol de Janeiro body creams on Look Fantastic yesterday, but I checked her bedroom and she already has two.

I nabbed a White fox hoodie and T-shirt during the 40% off sale during the week.

I miss the days when I could surprise her, but now I have to double check with her to make sure she likes something and allow her to choose which one she wants. She’s like me that way 😄

Mistycactus · 17/08/2024 12:52

I’m told that airforce 1s are out now (might just be our area though) and air Jordan’s are more acceptable.
Lip Kits (kylie Jenner)
sweets
body sprays-play boy & Victoria’s Secret
bras
lounge wear -both big and baggy and tiny shorts & crop top sets

Have you seen the Eugy animal puzzles? My daughter got one last year at 14, of a Meerkat. She's only just done it, and has recently made her birthday list for this year and has put quite a few more on so I'm taking it as a hit! There's loads to choose from, and they're adorable!

psuedocream3 · 17/08/2024 14:25

My DS15 is getting air jordan 1 mids, sol de janiero jet set kit, perfume and shampoo, costa gift card (although she has £50 worth still not used to date) marshmallow toasting kit, bubble tea kit, a beauty bay skincare box with things like sol de janeiro, drunk elephant, star patches etc in, nail inc nailpolish set, airup pods, books, lush gift sets and bath and body works sprays so far.

I bought her a white fox hoodie last year, never worn it as it's 'so not cool'.

I'll probably get her a false lash kit and some freeze dried sweets too, maybe one of the adult lego sets like the flowers.

Thanks for the idea - I actually got these last year and they were really good!

Billie Eilish perfume and Lana del ray lipstick kits as well!
I think air force 1s are still in, it’s just everyone has them now. I’ll probably be getting air Jordan’s for mine this Christmas as that’s definitely the new in trainer 😊

Allaboutmarypoppins · 19/08/2024 19:48

I have no idea about trainers but I have just bought some Nike TNs - please don’t tell me they are not ‘cool’.

Mistycactus · 20/08/2024 08:40

TNs are good

Following for inspo!

LuckyNumber6 · 22/08/2024 08:10

I know someone said White Fox isn’t cool anymore but in case anyone is interested Oh Bella has White Fox tracksuits on sale for £40 instead of £80.
Also, Cult Beauty and Boots have Sol de Janiero sets with 20% off

From trust pilot it looks likely the white fox stuff off Oh Bella is fake

Yikes! Thanks for letting me know x

Iwasjustasking · 22/08/2024 22:01

@psuedocream3 can I have the link for the beauty bay box please?

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 23/08/2024 15:00

Fortunately my 14yo Dd is only interested in horsey stuff so she gets that and I remain completely oblivious to teen trends. She's definitely not a cool girl 😝 She makes hobbyhorses too so I usually get her supplies for that in her stocking eg leather, velboa fabric, stuffing

i will probably get her some bubble tea stuff too

How do these work, please? Are you meant to collapse them when they are completed, and do them again, or are they then ornaments? And what age are they aimed at?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 24/08/2024 13:43

Watching with interest.
My teens birthdays are in September and October before we even get Christmas!

Lidlisthebusiness · 24/08/2024 14:34

@Leeds2 they become ornaments I suppose. They're glued together, so you don't take them apart again. There's 112 different ones to collect. I'm not sure what age they're aimed at, maybe 7/8+, but my teen enjoyed hers and wants more, not necessarily for the actual craft, but for the finished product, they're very sweet to look at! I'm going to get all 5 of my children on each for their stocking this year as there's such a wide range to choose from.
