Christmas Disappointment

so this year my 5 year old was super exited about Christmas and the build up.
wanted a handbell from Santa ( think this is because of a song she did in the nativity)

got her a mixture of crafting gifts, board games, Lego a squishmallow and stocking bits.
I can honestly say opening them she wasn’t at all excited, just opened them and hasn’t really wanted to play with any. She’s obviously not toy driven mainly likes crafting but I feel sad about it. The effort and just feel like I’ve let her down.

hubby insists on Christmas at home but I’ve suggested going to Disney Paris next year we love it there and what’s the point in all the stress of me cooking for family when daughter doesn’t like roast, didn’t enjoy the whole present thing… might as well go do something we actually enjoy.

Sometimes it just appears they aren’t having fun but they are. If you look at pictures of my DDs they look so bloody miserable you would think they had been given a sack of coal, but if you speak to them they will tell you they had the best time.

I think when there is a big lead up and so much excitement Christmas Day itself can seem like a bit of a flop or not as exciting if it’s just a small family at home. But that dosnt mean it is. For my DDs they now look forward to the day after lots of parties, shows and pantomime’s Christmas Day for us is the 5 of us chilling in pj’s. I use to think they were disappointed after opening presents, but they aren’t, as they are getting older 6, 9 & 11 they look forward to the quiet chilled no planned activity side. Presents often get ignored at first but will come out over time and they will let me know how happy they are, each in their own ways.

She might just have been overwhelmed or even coming down with something. Often when one of my kids are out of sorts they come down with a cold or something.
