Last year I had flu, now I’ve got covid! Anyone want to join my pity party?

I don't understand why all these people are testing.... have I gone back in time 3 years? Just stop!

Because many of us are about to spend a day with elderly/vulnerable relatives?

I had it two weeks ago and was very relieved to test negative this week. I probably wouldn't bother normally unless I felt really ill, but I don't want to infect my parents.

Some of us still have to get iv or tablet antivirals so I'll continue to test thanks.

It's because it's actually a really awful illness for a lot of people (like I say I'm three weeks in and still really poorly with breathing issues), this far into flu I would definitely be starting to feel a lot better. Considerate people don't want to pass this nasty virus on to loved ones especially those that are immunocompromised.

Joining the Merry Covidmas party 😫 the body pains are something else this time around!!!

I found that too! If you're able to take Ibuprofen and paracetamol, remember that you can alternate!

Herbiebanannas · 25/12/2023 00:56

I think I probably have it as I feel rough but haven’t tested. Why would I?

It makes no difference if it’s COVId, flu, a cold or whatever. If I feel ill I stay home and don’t risk passing it onto vulnerable people so behave exactly the same as I have for my entire adult life.

When I feel well enough to not be a risk to others then I will resume my Christmas.

Don’t you think about the consequences of your behaviour? 🤷‍♀️

My 12 yr old dd's childminder told me she had it yesterday (after having her) and .my dd is now feeling unwell.
If so this will be her 4th time.
I hope I don't get it because I had it in July and I was floored with it!.
The neuro virus is also doing its rounds..😱

mondaytosunday · 25/12/2023 03:06

My sister has it - we live 3500 miles away and this is our first trip over since before the pandemic. She's a doctor did a 48 hour shift and came back feeling I'll - boom covid. She's now isolating in her room as two kids in the house are immunocompromised. We may see her after Wednesday!

Same here. Felt cack all week, tested + on Saturday. The pain is horrendous! I feel like I’m on a stretching rack. Agonising backache and everything hurts all over.

Wishing everyone a very swift recovery ❤️‍🩹 Merry Christmas to you all! x

DP tested positive last Thursday. I tested positive on 23rd. I feel rough. It can see it getting a tiny bit better. I'm on my own today with DC as DP working all day. Tomorrow we are meant to be having lunch in a restaurant with the whole family. I've paid in advance but don't know if I should go.

I agree with your point about staying away regardless of what you've got but testing is still important - when I tested I only felt very mildly sniffly, could very easily have just been my normal dust allergy but I tested before going to see my elderly father and it was positive. It was only about 24 hours later that I felt really shit and would have known not to mingle, hit me very suddenly, but that would have been too late, I'd happily have visited him by then.

I’m testing because I give a shit about the well-being of others.

Having tested positive, I’m avoiding crowds and wearing a good mask when being indoors with others cannot be avoided.

I plan to do this for 10 days unless I get a negative test sooner than that.

I think I have got it but I’m away in Sri Lanka at the moment and no tests with me, have been in bed for the last 3 days! And the sweats haven’t been pleasant in 30 degree heat. Ds 12 has informed that he has had the worst Xmas as dh who is Sri Lanka doesn’t really do Christmas 😭

Lenax · 25/12/2023 17:23

In the same boat, tested positive this morning

Reba767 · 27/12/2023 19:45

I work in a care home and we have had a few covid outbreaks in the last 3 years but this variant must be even more contagious as literally in the space of 2 days about 30 residents have down with it.

Shingles and awaiting breast biopsy results here. It's shitty isn't it?

ShatParp · 27/12/2023 21:38

Guys after 4 awful days I thought I was improving...normal temp all day and now it's back up although only to 38. I thought I was on the mend! Is this normal?!
Also, has anyone else had the drenching night sweats?

Wouldn't usually think it was normal but my son has been like this, getting better then high temperature again out of nowhere. Kids at his school have been the same so guessing it's just the strain at the moment 😕
