Extra gift dilemma

DH was complaining about the DC spending too much time on the Switch yesterday. Both have requested a Switch game (only) on their Christmas list.

They do not need more Lego, but it is the only thing they play with apart from the switch. I have two large-ish Lego sets in storage, one I bought in the Black Friday sales as DD was saying then that she was going to put it on her list. Then when she wrote her list she changed for a switch game. The other I bought a couple of years ago planning to give to DS if he improved his attitude at school. It wasn't needed. It's a bit young for him, but probably the last year he would be interested in it. DH is unaware of both...

From us they're getting
switch game (one each, Santa)
sports bag
pj's and socks
books - one parcel each and one joint.

This is the first year that there are no physical toys under the tree - from anybody. And I'm wondering if that's a mistake. DC2 is 11, DC1 older but with SN and very like DC2 most of the time. I.e. still into toys with flashes of "I'm too old for this".

I don't understand why you buy gifts but store them for years depriving the kids if fun. Sounds miserable!

Gawd only knows, my children are not exactly deprived of stuff. But found myself in the same situation last year, asked for a certain set, I bought in a sale. Then come Christmas changed their mind. Bought whatever else he wanted thinking he'd come back to.the idea for birthday.
I like to keep the kids Christmas equal and its too big to give as an extra so it is still hidden in the back of a cupboard

@OneMoreMyWaygood decision since you have one for each of the kids

@OneMoreMyWay did kids enjoy their extra surprises, was DH OK with it?
