This year Christmas has been playing on my mind a little more than usual. I have a 4-5 year old and since he's been born we've done Santa gives one main present and we buy the rest... this year he has completely forgotten that, I'm wondering whether because it's his first year at school whether the other children think Santa brings everything but what do you all do?

Santa brings a sack full of presents. None are from us- presents from relatives are from them and separate from santas sack

Do your kids not ask why you didn't buy them anything? Mine would!

@OhhhhhhhhBiscuits We don't do any gifts from dh and I either. Dd doesn't ask, she knows that FC brings her plenty and is happy with that.

Another one here where santa brings everything! Technically, I don't get them anything at all. They don't question it and love the getting up on the morning and all the presents have appeared.

I don't think there is any right or wrong way to do it, just whichever you want to make your tradition.

I like my children to appreciate that people who love them have put effort in to their presents…so Father Christmas just brings chocs/pocket money toys in stocking. Everything else is family. Each child also chooses a present for everyone in the shops, wraps them, writes the gift tag etc.
We went to our local art gallery/bookstore today and my 4 year old chose A Maritime History of Scotland for me, puffin socks for one sibling, a ring for another etc…we then came home and she spent the afternoon excitedly getting it all ready for under the tree.
Father Christmas can be fun and exciting without getting all the credit!

It's interesting to read how everyone does it, gifts from other people are put under the tree straight away here too.
