The ‘boring’ gifts!

This is a light-hearted thread, but I was wondering if you’ve got wind of any unusual or ‘boring’ gift choices from grandparents yet or perhaps something you got as a child? One grandparent always bought all the grandchildren a jumper and socks when I was little! I do remember it fondly now though wasn’t too excited at the time.

I’m probably unreasonably tickled by what my mother has bought the DC this year!
She’s bought all DC a microwave hot water bottle and a bar of floral scented soap. They’ve had funky looking soaps in their stocking before which was fun, but I’m not entirely sure they’ll care too much about one that looks like a standard bar of soap that we usually have in a packet of in the bathroom cupboard. A bath bomb, sure - fun gift but a bar of soap that looks like any other? 😂
Maybe I’m just overly amused by this as a gift choice and it’s a perfectly normal Christmas gift.
I just want to say again this is lighthearted, my children will absolutely write a thank you note and will use the soap. I’m entirely confident it was a lovely thought. They do like sniffing flowers.

My nan used to buy me hankies which I would pass to DM for when she did the ironing!

I’ve bought DS(5) some grinch socks and fluffy snowman socks for Christmas. Then yesterday he was horrified when someone got socks as a gift in a film we were watching- “That’s not a present!” 😂. Hopefully I will be forgiven when he opens the rest!

I've bought DS some lavender pillow mist which sounds an odd gift for a 7 year old but he stole mine and used it all!!

I've just wrapped up a new roll on deodrant for my teenage daughter as I needed something to fill up her stocking, sure she will be thrilled.

My Grandma used to buy us all a pair of (very plain) socks or a £5 book token on rotation each year. And she always used to announce which one it was before we had the chance to open it!
