Science gift 10 year old

10 year old has asked for something science related but something that he can keep i.e. not a chemistry set or experiments. The example he gave was a microscope (I asked him if he'd like a microscope and he said no, it was just an example 🤣) So basically, I'm thinking either a piece of equipment or something that he can make and keep like a robot or something. Has anyone seen anything cool? All a bit samey on Amazon. Thanks 😊

My dd got a circuit board electronics kit when she was 9 or 10 and loved it. Just a basic one with some pegs to wrap the wires round, some lights and a buzzer. She played with it a surprising amount

My 10YO has seen a robot thing he liked in the entertainer. Think it's called Devo or something similar. He's not getting it though because I've already spent a small fortune on him.

Something solar system related? A model, poster or light projector, for example. Biology related models might work too (skeleton, double helix). Magnets - there's a few magnetic science kits around.

Mine has loved his telescope but even more than that a microscope that plugs into the computer and sends pics via the camera app. Came in to find him pointing it up his nose the other day.

The 5-in-1 mechanical coding robot is also great and a brilliant intro to non-electronic coding - finally got my DS to understand how punch card computers worked.

Lidl has a plasma ball in the middle aisle since Thursday if that sounds like the kind of thing! (About £15)
