Can anyone recommend any detective books for 10yo boy and 7yo girl? 7yo reads very well for her age, but doesn't quite have the stamina/attention span for anything too long, so ideally something with shortish chapters.

Thanks!

Enid Blyton had the Mystery books, some are on CBBC, would they be too old fashioned? For the 7 year old, not sure about the 10
year old.

Skullduggery Pleasant for the 10 year old boy, but likely not the 7 year old girl.

London Eye mystery is good

Lottie Lipton for younger children - say, 7-9 and reading chapter books.

Robin Stevens for the older one. The heroes are two posh girls, which my son didn't mind.

'The Case of the Smuggler's Curse' Mark Dawson
Agatha Oddly books by Lena Jones
Roman mysteries by Caroline Lawrence
Young Sherlock Holmes by Andrew Lane

Ottoline series for 7 year old
London eye series and murder quite unladylike for 10 year old

Anthony Horowitz's Diamond Brothers Detective Agency

The Number 1 Boy Detective by Barbara Mitchell

DS loved these series of short books at about age 9, and DD aged 8 is reading them too!

Theres versions of Sherlock Holmes rewritten for children... they take out the prostitutes for example. They are quite enjoyable

The Adventures on Trains series is quite good for your 10yo. Starts with Highland Falcon Thief

I used to love the Secret Seven.

I second the diamond brothers - absolute gold

The Murderer's Ape is a great book, probably not quite a detective book, but a crime and a mystery to solve so along the same lines.

There are others in the series too.
