Hi all,

We want to bake something delicious for the Christmas period. Open to cakes, desserts, cupcakes. Not Christmas cake or Yule log.

Any ideas? Thank you!

You said no Yule log, but Delia's squidgy chocolate log is a fabulous dessert (rather than 'cake').
Old fashioned but you can't beat a good Black Forest Gateau.
Or a steamed pudding of some sort (golden syrup or apple and mincemeat maybe?)
Cranberry (drier) and white chocolate cookies are gorgeous - lots of recipes to choose from.

I always do James martins black forest trifle

I don't like traditional trifle but this is just something else.

I make my own brownies for the bottom and use cherries in kirsch. However last year I used cherry jam as the cherries in kirsch were sold out everywhere! Still lovely though.

I am doing Delia's preserved ginger cake which is gorgeous.
