Dr Martens…

So I would love to get some for my sister as a Christmas gift. However, the cost is a bit shocking!

Feels like a ridiculous long shot but anyone have any ideas where to get some on sale/discounted? Ideally the classic vegan pair but I could give up my morals at this point 😉

In the last office sale I tried to buy them and they kept cancelling my order. So sad!

Schuh sometimes has them on sale. I have just had a look, and they only have about £20 off, unfortunately.

Have a look at
offcuts (office ex display, never had a bad pair of shoes) I’ve linked below the direct to dr martens.
Offcuts
tower London
Allsole - often have first time discount codes. Bought my last pair of dms from here and got about £50 off.

hope this helps x

I wouldn't recommend the vegan ones as I bought a pair a few years ago and they still aren't comfortable as the fake leather just hasn't softened at all.

I think Schuh were offering 20% off if you have a bluelight or unidays discount card if you or someone you know has one?

BeerGarden · 09/12/2023 14:29

if you have an outlet near you try there, I got some from the Cheshire Oaks store a few weeks ago, £55 in store £160 on the website! The discounts aren’t always that big I was just lucky but worth chancing?

Cocteautriplet · 09/12/2023 14:32

Have you considered second hand? … I just sold a pair on eBay and I looked at what other sellers were offering so I could price accordingly etc, and there were some mint but lightly used pairs for well under £100. They had their boxes etc. Many sellers also offer returns so you can check fit.

OfMark87 · 09/12/2023 14:37

Try allsole, you get 15% off your first order x

amylou8 · 09/12/2023 14:43

I would avoid the vegan ones too. I'm veggie but ditch my morals for a pair of leather DMs I know will last me 5 years. Schuh are my go to because their returns policy is so good.

Kellioo · 09/12/2023 14:51

I'm usually a 6 but a 5 in docs, so can get the childrens which are cheaper. I got the canvas ones which I love.

I bought a pair of Dr Martens Mary Jane's for half price at the outlet store, McArthur Glen near York. They have a selection of boots but I think typically the half price selection is out of season. They had lots of Mary Jane's and sandals when I went in October. I paid £65. Not sure where other putlet stores may be.

Ohthatsfabulousdarling · 09/12/2023 15:01

Don't go for fake leather, you need the proper stuff, nome of the patent either.
And take good care of them with regular polishing. DD got some of their shoes, they were for school, so given holidays etc and the shoe was literally falling apart just over a year after purchase. Customer services weren't great considering it was a £160 shoe...
They do offer 2 years on the sole, but 1 year on leather, nothing on the vegan leather or the shiny leathery material.

Ohthatsfabulousdarling · 09/12/2023 15:02

Sorry it doesn't help with price but hoping the advice might lead to slightly longer lasting boots!

toomanykittensnow · 09/12/2023 15:13

They are super expensive but so worth it! Could you make it a joint Xmas and birthday present? I looked for yonks for a discount code and wished I'd just bitten bullet earlier and got them sooner as I love them so much. I live in them all winter, second year in them and they look great still and no wearing to soles etc; my footwear never lasts me a full season usually as I walk a lot and it's always bloody raining. I'm getting a second pair for Christmas and I'm so excited! If you get them from schu and join their member card (free) you get loyalty piints, think I got almost a tenner back in "points" when I got mine

PostmansKnock · 09/12/2023 15:27

Zalando sometimes has them a bit cheaper.

mrssunshinexxx · 09/12/2023 15:29

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/12/2023 15:38

Squiggles23 · 09/12/2023 15:58

Wow so much brilliant advice everyone - thank you!! I will look at all your suggestions.

Great to know about the vegan leather being not to best option too!
