I have absolutely no idea what to get for my 5yo boy. Willing to spend £100 ish. Anyone got any ideas? He likes:

  • puppy dog pals
  • marvel
  • tractors
  • music
  • barbie
  • frozen

And lots of other things but they are flavour of the month!

Why is it so hard to buy for your own child?!

Has he not written to Father Christmas to say what he might want? Let him look through the Smyths toy catalogue maybe?

Yes. He wants a quad bike like our neighbour's, the real hulk and thor, for me to change my car into a fire engine and top trump cards. When I ask him what else he wants he says that's it, he can't think of anything else. I've really tried.

I have gotten my 5 year old the following for Christmas:

Minecraft Lego
Minecraft sword
Minecraft Robe
Loom bands
Remote control car
Yoto player and cards (this is a shared gift with his younger brother)

His birthday js coming up in Jan:
Super Mario Lego
Nerf guns and target
Science kit

My dd got a childrens accordion from a relative when she was 5, would that fit in with his love of music?

I think he has a lot of interests so I would get things themed to that so maybe a frozen craft set, marvel blanket for his room. If he liked dogs then little live pets have a puppy set with an interactive dog and a dog house.

Themed top trumps

Maybe a remote control car in loo of the quad bike

My dc is 5 years and lives Playmobil. DC has lots of different bits including a treasure island, jail, school, zoo animals. There are loads of options. I've got the pirate ship for Christmas.

Good ideas here for my DNephew who’s 5.

Ideally he’d want a puppy/kitten or snake/lizard.

Realistically:-

any playmobil
any lego
anyhing paw patrol
dogman books or another plushie of that ( I got him one the other year)
microscope
remote control cars

things he’s liked which are hard work (and meant for older kids) a sort of plastic space station kit which fits together and you can grow stuff and it has stones for experiments, a bit fiddly.

I got him a Star Wars Malandorian figure/space ship last year and took it to DM’s house where his main party was being held. It had a sword that was the size of a small needle and as you opened it it spilled out went under the sofa, this happened approx 5 times whilst he was playing with it, it came off easily. Try finding this needle non stop with the child pleading for it 5 times! Aargh!!!! Don’t get it!

travel sized table football game (from wicked bucks). He loved it.

He also likes transformers.

PassMeTheCookies · 08/12/2023 19:55

I've got my son (4):

Miles Morales figure that you can change the head and shoes and clothes on.

Peter Parker/Spider-Man figure that the head changes on.

Ninja turtle figures.

Miles Morales dress up outfit.

A nerf gun.

My First Monopoly.

Dominoes.

Dobble.

I've got a few more things that I can't think of. There's nothing more he's into other than playing with action figures at the moment so I've got him the figures and then a few toys/games that'll support his learning.
