Present ideas to mark huge year

The past year has been so intense - think medical dramas so unfortunate that we were contacted by the press if we wanted to tell our story (we didn’t) - that to all be alive and surviving day to day is the greatest gift. My DH, not interested in gifting at all, surprised me tonight by saying that he wants to buy me something special for being alive/marking the year. This is a man who pretty much buys a cake and flowers for birthdays, and usually no gift at Christmas, so to actually be considering purchasing something has caught me offguard. I have brain trauma so I’m struggling to think of things… any ideas of gifts that mark a significant year?

I'm so sorry to hear all you've been through Flowers. What would really bring you joy at the moment? Maybe it's a delightful teapot that you adore, a beautiful print to gaze at from your home area? Something that you wear often, like lovely earrings but are a bit more special than usual? Something tied to a happy memory that you share?

sometimes things can help us to tell or to reaffirm good stories about the meaning and value of life.

What about a special Christmas tree decoration that commemorates the year - Swarovski do one for example - and then maybe something for yourself? I don't know about turnaround time but there are companies that do necklaces with things like fingerprints captured in silver or pendants with family names engraved on the decorative pieces.

That's wonderful.

A holiday?

Artwork?

A tree for your garden?

A watch or jewellery?

Thank you 💐 yes, I love this idea of engraved jewellery or artwork. Something tangible. I love the idea of a tree (though we live in an apartment). My DH surprised me again today saying he’d like to get matching gold rings - even though we are engaged long ago, Covid thwarted our wedding ceremony, so we never officially tied the knot. And then the family disasters began…
Perhaps he just wants some bling himself 😅
