Using hay/straw to package up a hamper?!

Is this a nice “green” idea or is it unhygienic?! All food/drink is fully wrapped.

It can be quite smelly

TicTacNicNak · 06/12/2023 20:38

I probably wouldn't personally, as hay can smell. You can get recycled shredded raffia from Amazon for packing hampers. Probably lots of other places too.

Decorhate · 06/12/2023 20:39

How about some shredded paper? If you have a shredder you could shred leftover bits of wrapping paper for example.

Tempnamechng · 06/12/2023 20:39

Very dry straw perhaps but not hay.

Moirarosesgarden · 06/12/2023 20:42

I know you can get the shredded paper just thought this might be cheaper option, but you’re right it probably will smell 🤣

I’m allergic to hay so wouldn’t thank you and only found out after I’d bought Guinea pigs and it’s their staple diet!
