What nice Christmassy things have you done today?

I thought it would be nice to have a thread that is just about nice christmassy things that people have done. Ideally there will be no arguments about the commercialisation of Christmas, December 1st boxes, Christmas Eve boxes, cost of living crisis etc. There are umpteen other threads about that.

I REALLY couldn't be bothered today. I'm ill and coughing up a lung. But I rallied for an hour and convinced DH to put the outside lights up while the DC (4 and 21 months) were in nursery. I also got all the Christmas stuff out of the loft and put a christmas duvet, christmas book and soft toy on each of their beds (all from previous years but they're too little to remember).

Finally, I put the advent calendars on the fireplace. Just chocolate ones.

It was so worth it to see their little faces. Oh to be 4 years old at Christmas again!

Has anyone else had a lovely 1st December?

On 30th, cold but glorious evening visit to one of these events when they have artistically arranged a light show through the grounds, with hot chocolate and mince pies and mulled wine halfway round. Went with some extended family members, none of whom were too annoying for a change. Today 1st started putting actual Christmas food in the Christmas supermarket order rather than just the rubbish I dumped in it in October, while listening to some jazz versions of Christmas music. Also emailed the vicar about something to do with the Carol Service. Tomorrow 2nd writing the cards that need sending to Europe.

Made these today. Combination of faux and real. Assembled from items I have used in previous years.

Yesterday I gave OH a chocolate Advent calendar. He's not been too well and it really cheered him up (the magic of chocolate!). I bought a poinsettia from M&S and when I unwrapped it, it is in a lovely robin tin pot. DS put up the outside lights and three of my neighbours have put their lights up too. I bought a few more Christmassy bits and pieces for DCs stockings

@Lavenderandbrown - just beautiful. I will be making a table centrepiece too.

I started making the decorations for our Christmas cake, finished a Christmas jigsaw with DH and opened the first door on the very old-fashioned advent calendar we have in our bedroom. And tomorrow we are going to a local Christmas fair 😊

Started cleaning my house top to bottom today so I can decorate next weekend and not feel like its cluttered.

Almost finished Christmas shopping for the kids. Bought chocolates for the extended family. So have made some headway in the consumerism category Brew

A santa breakfast for the kids. Day two of christmas clothes only for me. We also made our new dinning table and I put a new christmas table cloth on it.

Took a bunch of stuff to one school for their Christmas fayre/Santa grotto decorations, which meant getting decorations out but won't put up until we get the tree, so mid December ish

Gave kids advent calendars

Got music books with Christmas songs and carols out for keyboard

What a lovely thread 🥰. Grandson opened his advent calendars, when I finished work I gathered all the present shopping and started wrapping, mainly to see if I needed anymore stocking fillers. I'm working all weekend but son and grandkids are going to decorate the tree on Sunday.

Bought a heap of supplies and had a great time making decorations with GC. They made cards to take home for their mothers too:)
Biggest surprise was H getting so into the whole thing. Probably more than the kids 😆 I ended up with a "Merry Christmas to my beautiful Wife" card from him at the end of the afternoon which was very unexpected!
