What height Christmas Tree?

What height artificial Christmas tree should I get?

We always had a little 5ft one before. I promised myself we could get a nice tall new one when we moved house.

Now, first Christmas in our new house and I can’t decide what to get.

Ceilings are 2.7m tall. I can’t decide on 6’ (1.8m), 7ft (2.1m), or 8ft (2.4m). Is there any kind of convention?

In case it is relevant, it will be going in the family room next to bi-folds into the back garden, so it’s not a bay-window at the front affair (although I do envy those).

Is it going on the floor or will it be raised in any way? I'd go for 7' or 8', but remember that taller also = wider!

It will go on the floor. I was looking at the Balsam Hill slim ones, which look slim rather than skinny 😅. I’m not a fan of the pencil thin ones.

I’m leaning towards 7’ I think. Tall enough that you are looking up at the star (we are all 6’ plus) but not so tall as to scrape the ceiling.

I have always had a 6ft tree. 🎄

We’ve got a 7’ , it’s a perfect height .

Ours is 6ft and I always wish we’d bought a 7ft one instead (our ceilings aren’t super high).

It doesn’t look quite tall enough, but it needed to fit into quite a narrow space.

You could also go for 6.5ft!

swapcicles · 26/11/2023 16:46

I have a 7ft one, looks great but theres a lot of branches to sort, fix and fluff before it's ready to decorate, also trying to wind lights around it can be tricky as I'm only 5'2 😂
Worth looking at Argos as there's some on clearance at the mo

We’ve got a 6 foot and a 7 foot and I much prefer the 7. The dimensions just feel “right”- we’re all quite tall too which I guess makes a difference, but you should definitely feel like you’re looking up at the top of it.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 26/11/2023 20:47

Thanks all. I’ve ordered the 7’

I ordered from Balsalm Hill before seeing @swapcicles heads-up to check Argos. I must say I don’t see much difference between the £65 Argos one and the £330 Balsalm Hill one, so I don’t know what to do now 😅

I was going to say 7 or 8 ft definitely!

I'm a balsam hill fan, trust me you'll see the difference in person! Once you've got a balsam hill tree you can really see the quality, and it does knock other trees out of the park. Close up and far away they just look incredible and tbh I think totally worth the price. They also last absolutely forever, if you store them properly and fluff them properly they'll look fabulous year after year. You've made a good choice!

We always buy 7ft.
After trimming a couple of inches off the trunk it allows for a fairy on the top.
