DS -age 7 - saw a karaoke machine in a shop - the iDance cube and fell in love. Does anyone have this kind of thing? Is it any good? Now I've looked around, I wonder if it would be better to get one either a screen that can show lyrics?!

Any advice gratefully received.

Ooo. I can't help but will follow closely as DS may like one.

Sorry I can’t help but I am watching as my daughter wants one too but it has to play CDs too

Oh, following. I'm looking for one of these for my dd to take to uni with her!

I have a massive one - its a speaker and mic. Break it out every family gathering and can use the speaker for summer parties in the garden. Wouldn't suggest such a unit for a child, but they do the karaoke michrophones at smyths.

I had a karaoke machine as a child and my poor poor parents used to have to sit for hours and hours whilst I sang and made shows for them 😂 I would consider whether or not your ear drums can take the blast!

I have the Lucky Voice one and it has been great fun over the years. Just use YouTube for the videos/lyrics - free and much more choice than Lucky Voice online. I have a second microphone which wasn't included.

We have had various ones over the years and they were always well used and great fun. You used to have to get karaoke discs for them to get the lyrics through your TV but loads used phone pr tablet screen for that now.

We have a karaoke machine but we always use YouTube on the TV/iPad for the music and lyrics.

Also, if you have Apple Music and play most songs it will bring up the lyrics on screen.

I looked at the Lucky Voice one as it gets good reviews but I think DS liked the disco ball effects bit as much as the singing opportunity... which is pushing me more to the jazzier ones.

We had one like this that connects to the tv. It was only used a few times, but it was good!

We have the idance party ball. It’s great small so easily portable, connects to your phone via Bluetooth and has a stand for your phone so could just put the lyrics up on your phone. It also has the disco lights. We’ve had it a couple years now and no problems with it (apart from the terrible singing)
