Post Christmas Dinner ideas

I'm going away for Christmas, and then having family over for a second Christmas the weekend after. I need to make a dinner that feels special, but isn't a roast - for 6 adults and a child, including one vegetarian (I'm the veggie and only eat tiny portions, so not fussed about a separate meal, just don't want to cook a meat dish that needs lots of handling)

I don't want it to be too much faff and also something I can get either before I go on holiday on 20 Dec, or once I get back on 27th without worrying about it being out of stock post Christmas. I thought of beef wellington from cook, but that's £90 and ideally would spend a bit less than that on the main. Was thinking of serving with dauphinoise potatoes and garlic green beans. I won't do a pudding as everyone is always too full but will do some petit fours and chocolates later on.

Are there any genius ideas for the main meal that might work please?

I was going to suggest simple version beef wellington to be honest but make it your self. Ask a butcher to trim a fillet for you and packaged it in such a way that you can pick the beef fillet with tongs and place on pastry.

Personally I would use ready made pasty and maybe use the chopped mushrooms mixture in a mini quiche for you.
