Beware Amazon pricing

Just a warning for those who don't know - Amazon don't "price match" with themselves ie if the price drops just after you bought it, tough luck. They will advise you to return and re-order (but likely to have to pay the costs of this) - if you are like me and are waiting on a delayed delivery then this isn't an option: currently can't cancel or return!

Amazon is convenient for cheaper items but I'd never use them again for more expensive ones.

That's just normal surely? I can't buy a dress / sofa / oven the day before a sale starts, then go back into the shop the next day in the sale and demand it cheaper?

mondaytosunday · 20/11/2023 15:06

That's normal - not limited to Amazon.
In the US I used to work in retail and if a sale came on the customer could get the difference in the first week, but have never seen the same here.

BoohooWoohoo · 20/11/2023 15:08

That’s what happens in most shops.

I thought that this was going to be a warning to check CamelCamelCamel for prices to see if your Amazon purchase is a Black Friday deal or not.

WellDuh · 20/11/2023 15:09

That's normal for all online shopping. If it's a dramatic price drop I just return and reorder.

HelloItsMeAgainHello · 20/11/2023 15:09

I've had this happen before but I just returned the more expensive one at no cost and ordered it at the discount price. The difference was £50 so worth the hassle. But I didn't pay to return the cheaper one. Amazon just gave me a returns label. I did try to explain that it was going to cost them for me to return but they didn't seem to care

Actually quite a few retailers, including big ones like John Lewis and Curry's, offer price guarantees over the November period - but not Amazon despite all their "we put our customers first" bollocks.

The environmental impact of having to take delivery of a bulky item, return it then re-order it for delivery is bonkers!

They always used to just refund the difference, didn’t realise it had changed. Amazon prices change all the time though, definitely worth using camelcamelcamel.
