Apple Watch for DS

DS has asked for an Apple Watch, I don’t know much about them but I’ve had a look online and think the SE will be fine for him, he’s only 12. Could anyone advise if the 40 or 44mm would be best and if GPS alone is fine or if I should get one with the cellular option? It’s £30 extra for the larger screen and £70 extra on top of that for the cellular option so I’d only want to do go ahead if it would make a big difference.

He already has an iPhone with a data plan etc.

my daughter (12) has a 40mm , I wouldn’t have gone bigger at her age tbh. I’ve only just got a 44 and it was quite a size leap for me

i also learnt she has no real need for an Apple Watch 😂 be prepared for it to not get charged and forgotten about

I gave my son Apple Watch for 12th birthday. He absolutely loves it. It's the cheapest option without SIM card 40mm. He has iPhone so both devices share all of the data and as long as both are near each other he can take and receive calls.

I wouldn’t bother with the cellular option. You only need it if you don’t have your phone with you and it costs extra a month from your mobile network.

40mm prob fine for a 12 year old

i got mine from CEX - worth checking their A and B grade stock . Cheaper than new, more reliable than eBay.

I think an SE will be fine. Both my Dc have them, but the novelty wore off quickly. Eldest stated they aren’t allowed them in school anymore and never charges his watch. The other dc doesn’t use his as says that he always has his iphone with him so no point. However DH loves his uses it all the time especially for fitness and ring doorbell.
