Help with dd7 craft trolley.

Dd7 doesn’t really play with toys. We think she’s on the asd spectrum. But the one thing she absolutely loves is drawing and crafts. She will literally spend hours doing, she does it before school and after school. She makes books, bookmarks, cards, little love notes to us etc.
iv decided apart from a new iPad, which she also loves but mostly uses it to watch horse videos/ how to draw, I’m going to make her a crafting trolley.

our kitchen table looks like a bombs gone off all the time, the sooner iv cleaned it away she’s there cutting tiny bits of paper up. Drives me insane lol.

so far iv bought this for the trolley. Could you think of other little bits I may have forgotten? It’s only 3 tiers but I was thinking the top one for paper, her pens and pencils. The middle for paint and brushes, maybe stickers?
The bottom for her craft kits, tape, glue etc.

Felt tip pens
Assortment of pencils
Gel pens
Markers
Coloured card
White card
Paper
Scissors
Ruler
Rubber
Paint brushes
Tape dispenser
Washi tape
*stickers
*glue stick
*paint
Small Sewing kit
Small Card making kit

  • is what I need to buy.

thank you!

Baker ross have some really good stuff, not too expensive either x fantastic idea for your daughter slightly jealous LoL

LittleGreenDuck · 19/11/2023 19:11

I have nothing extra to add, but just wanted to say what a lovely idea this is. I'm sure your daughter will be thrilled (and hopefully you'll get your kitchen table back!)

IKEA have a tiny bin and dustpan and brush which my dd completely ignores on her drawing table.

Twistsble crayons
Post it notes
Paper plates
Thread and beads (or a friendship bracelet making set)
Sequins
Foiled paper

If you search free fabric samples, a lot of company's send you 5 or 6 samples which would be good you can get leather, vinyl, felt, ect

@Indoorvoicesbluey
i recommend the three tier trolleys also argos sell them

Finchgold · 19/11/2023 21:53

Outliner pens are amazing.

Table protector mat, Ikea do good cheap ones.

The Maped bunny pencil sharpener is all the rage with my kids. It’s teeth move when it’s sharpening!

I had a craft area using a billy bookcase.

Pipe cleaners were very popular.
Sellotape dispenser is essential.
PVA and glue spreaders
Googly eyes

cadentiasidera · 19/11/2023 22:33

Ahh this is such a good idea I may need to steal it. My daughter, who is 6 and also suspected ASD, spends ages doing this kind of stuff and nicking my sellotape etc, she would love having her stuff all organised and it might help me get less annoyed too! Any tips for getting her to tidy up all the little bits of paper she's snipped up onto the floor?!

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/11/2023 22:43

Excellent idea. Unfortunately I've not long got rid of a changing table, it would have been ideal

Indoorvoicesbluey · 18/12/2023 10:35

Thought I’d update! Think it’s nearly done, I can’t think of anything else to add :(

it’s cost me a lot more than I thought it would lol

I have a storage thing for the top to put paper in coming this week.

I felt emotional making it because I know she’s going to absolutely love it!

Wow - that’s fabulous!!

for anyone looking for a metal trolley, ikea also do good ones. We have one that was dd’s art trolley when she did gcse art.

TooningOut · 18/12/2023 11:40

Wowzers! That's amazing. What a lucky girl.

The only thing I'd add is a mini stapler. All my other ideas have been suggested.

Indoorvoicesbluey · 18/12/2023 11:41

Added one :) and some tiny mini pegs lol

Add some magnets so she can attach her art work to the trolley.
And a couple of shower curtains, one for the table and one for the floor…

If it hasn’t already, put a sign on it with her name.

caringcarer · 18/12/2023 18:12

She's going to absolutely love it OP. What a lucky girl. The only other thing I can think.of I haven't seen mentioned is gold and silver stars.

Blossomandblooms · 30/12/2023 11:40

@Indoorvoicesbluey what did your DD think to it? It looked fantastic! I will do when next year for my DD as she saw this and is desperate for one of her own now 😂
