Ideas to avoid Elf this year!

I wondered does anyone have any clever ideas to tell kids Elf isn't coming this year. Kids are 11 and 13 (13 has sen) I can't face it and feel they need to detach from elf this year.

Any clever ideas?
Thanks xxx

There's only a few hundred elves free to do the advent Countdown as Santa needs the rest at the north pole.

You've had an elf for a few years, this year Santa has sent him to another family for some fun and pranks.

A cool advent calender might help too, argos have reduced some of their Lego and pokemon ones.

Sadly Covid isn't just hitting humans these days.

Just tell them- surely they don’t actually think it’s real???

Borka · 16/11/2023 19:33

Tell them that Elves only visit houses where there are kids who are 10 or younger

The Elf in charge of running the family home has runout of ideas for cute toy elf shenanigans. See if they want to be in charge of it for 24 days.

My 11 year old got bored of moving it after a couple of days last year. No more elf

A postcard from the Elf saying he’s gone on holiday this year?

Mongrelsrbeautiful · 29/11/2023 22:46

Our elf now writes an elfie joke on the elfie white board every night - as my son is now 13,we took turns last year, much easier, and lots of eye rolling over breakfast.

Stephisaur · 01/12/2023 10:07

We told DS that the elf only visits the really naughty children 😂

Mummy2C · 01/12/2023 10:11

Elf's gone visiting other children. Then have photos from internet of other children's houses and what he's up to. You don't have to do much and they get to see what he's up to

DTs are 12. They have told me christamas wouldn't be christmas without the elves, of course they know they aren't real (we have three of the fuckers for some reason), I'll keep doing it but they're only arriving a week or so before christmas - they got lost on the way here.

Totally ridiculous I know.

Rainallnight · 01/12/2023 10:17

Maybe they could be in charge of the elf if they’re still keen?

Quiregirl · 01/12/2023 10:17

I spent three hours yesterday evening trying to find the elf door and accessories - no flippin' idea where they are. So that's that, no elves moving in here. Told the kids it's because we got a dog this year and they are not elves that are used to dogs. Kids are old enough that I suspect they know the elves don't really exist.

Mine have Covid and are quarantined for 7 days in a glass jar.

WinchSparkle80 · 01/12/2023 12:03

13 DD has SEN and absolutely believes, her younger brother does not but we carry on… I do however absolutely love the Elfie joke ~ just finding some she understands as so literal! 😩

You've developed an allergy to the little brighter
