11yr DD Christmas list

Hi, can I ask you to share your 10-12yr old dd Christmas lists?

Mine has asked for a new device, art set, hello kitty figures, teddies and collectables.

But I keep seeing other people's Christmas hauls or wish lists with similar age DD asking for expensive skincare, clothing, make up, hair styling kits.

I love that my dd is still into "toys" but it's worrying me that her list seems so different. Should I be buying her all the latest make up, clothing etc. even though I don't want to. I just don't want her going back to school and others saying nasty things about the fact she still gets toys.

She's extremely sensitive and if someone says something to her as they have done before she takes it to heart and is upset and worries over it for months.

In which case, you need to work on her not being sensitive and worrying over such things for months, rather than averting the problem by buying her stuff. Teach her the skills. Anyway, I won’t go on, it’s a Christmas thread and you’ve had the lists you were looking for.

Completely normal list! My (mature) 10 year old has also asked for Hello Kitty - apparently Sanrio characters are very 'in'. She has also asked for Sylvanians. She hasn't played with them properly for several months, but has decided wants to collect them and have them on display. She loves clothes and makeup too and has asked for her first games console this year but I am loving that I have another year of buying her a few toys as well. Have a fabulous Christmas.😊

My view (which I appreciate you didn't ask for) is don't use Christmas to reinforce the idea she isn't growing up fast enough. She may never care about those other things. That's ok and she will turn out all the better for having varied interests and not just following the crowd. I still ask for art supplies and I'm 40 next year, I ended up making a career out of it.

Our 11 year old has asked for lots of books, a video game, an apple pencil, soft toys and some merch from minecraft/art youtubers she watches (a t-shirt and hoodie). She's also asked for a meta quest VR thingy which she will be sharing with her sister. We'll pop some journals and art supplies in there with some sweets too. She also loves little collectable figures, she's really into Wednesday and Stranger Things so someone will most likely get her something from those. Lots of different things for her to pick from.
