Xbox/Switch/PlayStation conundrum

DS is soon to be 10 and wants a console for Christmas... Which would you pick?

We also have a 6 year old DD who will want to play.

Well it depends which games they want to play, they all have different catalogues and different exclusives.
PlayStation arguably has the widest catalogue, and if they already have or are going to have a gaming PC an Xbox is somewhat redundant as the Game pass covers both.
The Switch is much more casual gaming and can be handheld (depends which version you get as to whether it's just handheld or can also be used with a TV).

One other thing to consider, do they have friends who already have consoles? No good getting say a PlayStation if their friends have xbox or switch. May not be a big deal at 10 but my 12 year old has an xbox because her cousins and school friends have them and they're now at the age that they want to game online together.

They all have parental locks etc so everything is age appropriate, and they need permission for parents to add people so they can't talk to random people online, but they can't game with friends who don't have the same system.

I agree with the above, just get what their friends have!

One concern I’d have with PlayStation/Xbox is a lot of the games they may want may not be age appropriate.
