Games for 4 year old

DD1 is 4.5 and really likes games and I was wondering whether anyone had any recommendations of good ones for that age?

She prefers ones where there's a bit of choice involved. Nothing complicated, just for example Ludo where you choose which piece is best to move, vs snakes and ladders where you just roll and move. I'm not saying she's great at making the best decisions, just that she prefers games with that element. She also really enjoys Uno.

It doesn't have the choosing element but Monopoly Junior is great - they have two different 'levels' of games. Also any of the Orchard toy games, one of our favourites is Shopping List.

Kerplunk
Little Bus Lotto
Jenga
Dominoes
Junior Rummikub
Enchanted Forest

Enchanted Forest
junior monopoly (we have the version with the funfair)
junior cluedo (a bit fiddly at first)
Orchard Toys games generally but Pop to the Shops, Animal Safari and Cheeky Monkeys are particular favourites

Cotswoldmama · 12/11/2023 10:46

Any of the orchard games are good. Yahtzee, pass the pigs,

Pop up Pirates, Hungry Hippos, Mouse Trap, Frustration and Orchard games are all popular with 4 year old DD (4 last Sept)

Guess Who is a bit too much atm, as is Operation.

We loved Orchard Toys Games at that age. Pizza Pizza was a particular favourite here.

Ravensburger Funny Bunny is like that. You could start her on Junior Monopoly too.

Thanks all. Lots of suggestions I'll definitely look at!

At 4, my dd loved My First Carcassonne. The aim of the game is to place all your meeples on finished roads first whilst essentially taking it in turns to build a map, one square at a time.

Sorry! is amazing for that age (actually all ages) and similar type of choice making process.

We got Outoxed recently for our 5 year old, it's a nice game that isn't really about winners and losers, takes about 20 mins per game and isn't complicated. Would recommend for her age.

Orchard toys games

Hungry hippos
Pop up Pirate

DS (4) really likes no thank you evil, it's a very simplified version of dungeons and dragons/cost your own adventure. He also likes rhino hero junior, dobble, get bit (that's mine), we have bought him castle panic junior for his birthday but we are a family who play games together, they're not all games he could just play with friends.

SgtJuneAckland · 12/11/2023 20:53

@Dorriethelittlewitch I've been thinking about carcassonne for DS , it's good to hear a positive review!
