Every year I say I'm going to be done with my wrapping the week before Christmas, but every year I find myself wrapping things on Christmas Eve.

I'm determined to be done early this year. I promise myself!!

Has anyone started, or is even finished wrapping their gifts yet?

I have bought things for the DC Dec 1st Boxes and I have some fleecy stockings for the small items .
I usually buy a nice gift box for DDs bit couldn't see any in HomeSense/TKMaxx (and they get their stock in early )

I need to get a really hefty Sellotape * dispenser
*other brands of adhesive tape are readily available

So , in answer .....none

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 11/11/2023 18:55

Apart from DP, all gifts wrapped but then we cut it right back and now only buy for immediate family so only 5 people - very liberating!

Lesina · 11/11/2023 19:00

Haven’t bought anything yet😂

natura · 11/11/2023 19:04

I like to make 'an event' of wrapping (and looking excitedly at the things I've bought for people), so I leave it until a week or so before Christmas.

Then I get some port, a stollen, and put on a Christmas movie, and spend the evening cutting and sticking and writing clues on labels...

Easy for me though since I live apart from DP and DSS, so I have a bit more room to play – if I had kids in the house it'd be a harder thing to wrangle!

pinkfluffybunny · 11/11/2023 19:05

Wow!! So many people are on the ball.

I think I might start wrapping what I've got next week when the children are at school.

I bought some lovely brown paper type wrapping paper with old fashioned Santa heads on yesterday. In primark of all places. I've got my tape dispenser at the ready, so I'm all set, just need to start.

And then I will need to clear spaces to put them once they're wrapped without letting them get dog eared.

I've bought 90% of the presents, will start wrapping in a few weeks! I'm determined to be done before mid Dec so I can actually enjoy the festive period

sleepismyhobby · 11/11/2023 19:23

All presents bar 3 bought I'll start wrapping next week as I have to post some presents

Poppins17 · 11/11/2023 19:36

I always think if you wrap too early the paper gets damaged or crinkled on presents because I haven’t got a stack of space to lay one present down flat at a time. How do you keep your presents looking nice if you wrap so early?

I want to know this too? Has everyone else got a spare room or something?

I put the tree up so I can put them under it! It's been up for a week or two now. I finished wrapping the presents earlier. Gave me an aching back after sitting on the floor for ages! lol

For me, my tip this year is after you’ve wrapped, put the wrapped presents in the same box as the presents came in then it’s easier to store and hopefully the paper won’t get too damaged or crinkled

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 11/11/2023 22:13

I like to have everything purchased before December and then set aside time to wrap once the tree is up. I put some things under it then the others into reusable bags to make it easy and Stocking contents get wrapped and into a bag for each person ready to tip in on Christmas Eve.

grayhairdontcare · 11/11/2023 22:21

All bought and wrapped by the end of October.

Cazs818 · 11/11/2023 22:28

All brought & wrapped , popped in sacks and hidden in the loft 😊

I hate running around last minute prefer to spend time baking with the kids or doing Xmas crafts etc

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBabyYeahRight · 11/11/2023 22:32

I haven't even started my Xmas shopping yet, but what ever it is I buy it'll be something that's easy to wrap cos wrapping presents pisses me right off.

fourelementary · 11/11/2023 22:41

@Poppins17 @BurntOrangeAutumn

I save medium sized Amazon boxes or delivery boxes and wrap up sets of gifts and box them away labelled or numbered- eg Sister, BIL and niece in one box. Labelled 1, in laws to post box 2 etc and then keep a spreadsheet with the details of whose gift is in which box!
Kids (I have 3) have different wrapping paper each so their presents can get stored together and I wrap as I go and keep the list updates to keep things fair. Once a box is full it is labelled and stored away (we don’t have an attic so stuff gets hidden around the house!).
Nothing gets touched until it’s going to get delivered. Tree presents are presents FROM other people (not us) that are given to us before Xmas or sent to us (we have relatives abroad) or maybe neighbours presents to be delivered.

To answer @pinkfluffybunny though- around half my presents are wrapped so far…. 1 large box (kids) plus 4 medium boxes. And an advent/December box too!

Mindovermatter247 · 11/11/2023 22:44

Not yet… I’ve still got a bit of shopping to do.. and I like to have at least 95%… I can’t get some of it until next week as 3 things are not released until then. Probably be about 2/3 weeks

truetruebarneymcgrew · 11/11/2023 22:47

Bloody hell no! I save that glorious job for Christmas Eve 😂

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/11/2023 23:33

Finished buying and wrapped first two last night
I only buy for 3 sons and 1 friend now

Irritatedandfedupandsad · 11/11/2023 23:42

No…I have no idea what my children want for Christmas..all in their 20s and youngest in Vancouver. Have accepted that thankfully Christmas will be cheaper. I tend to give my children money when they need it over the years.

EversoDisorganised · 11/11/2023 23:49

No, haven't started shopping yet. I do it all at once as that's easier than getting all the stuff out every time you come home with anything and less time for it to get damaged, our tree doesn't go up till about the 17th and we don't put presents under it as they would be in full view of the front window, there also isn't much space. In fact I'm going to have to rethink where I put them pre-wrapping as we've reorganised the house this year and the space they've always gone in is no longer available. But I don't wrap till Xmas Eve, we use a huge stash of reusable bags so it doesn't take long.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 12/11/2023 01:22

I wrapped four presents today as I was lunching with friends who I won’t see again before Christmas. I’ll do my pet/housesitter’s present next week as she’s coming later this month then I won’t see her again until April. I’ll probably wrap the majority and write my cards some time in early December. I like to do it with Christmas music playing and a festive drink to hand to get me in the mood. My cat likes to help so that’s nice. 😹

Only three stocking fillers but they are wrapped and stashed away.

I've wrapped the presents I send to Australia

You are sooo organised, I'm impressed!
All my gifts I've bought are stuffed into my wardrobe or drawers.
I'm thinking of doing the different wrapping paper per kid this year though if I can get organised enough.
