What are your 10 year old DDs asking for, for Christmas?

I find this age so difficult to buy for! Moving away from toys but not yet old enough for other things.

What are your DDs of a similar age asking for?

@TippingTree to be honest my heart sank when I saw it one her list but it’s what she wants the most - it’s highlighted so we will probably get her one and regret every moment of it!

Tomorrowiscoming · 02/11/2023 15:25

Oh my dd just turned 10 and has a very similar list! I'm looking at roller skates now- decathlon.

BettyOBarley · 04/11/2023 09:07

@dontforgetme 🤣🤣🤣
Reading this thread they all sound very similar!

What's your verdict on the cat pillow? Did you get it from Amazon? I haven't bought it yet as it says it's vacuum packed which puts me off as stuff like that is usually creased to hell!

It's actually DD's bday before Christmas as well, so am struggling for ideas for both!

She has mentioned Heeley's as well, but she's had roller skates before which she never used.

Wendyspotatopeeler · 04/11/2023 09:11

Mines only just 11 and seems to only want skincare.

Minttee · 04/11/2023 09:16

Lego
Camera
Switch games
Bath bombs
Lipbalms

DD has the long cat pillow thing, it does come vacuum packed but as soon as you open it it swells up and within a couple of minutes it's crease free.

dontforgetme · 04/11/2023 09:23

@BettyOBarley I actually ordered the cat pillow from temu. My first purchase off there so not sure what it will be like or if it will even turn up Grin

My dd mentioned Heelys in the summer for her birthday but I just know they will be a one time thing. Never to be worn again! So I'm steering clear of them.

My dd wants a phone for her main present. She is the only one of her friendship group without one, so she will be having my old iPhone in my recent iPhone box. Brand new to her and saved me some ££.

She's also really started to get into Nike/Adidas clothing so am going to have a look at the Black Friday deals.

If your dd is into cats as much as my dd, I got this for her birthday as a last minute cheap present. It went down a storm and she treasures it like I would a Tiffany necklace!

Is she on tiktok? My 11 YO is obsessed with skincare it's a bit silly I think. Asking for toiletries for Christmas but it's what she wants.

No TikTok but YouTube a lot. She knows more about expensive beauty stuff than I do.

Joining in to get ideas for my generic 10yo 🤣

She's obsessed with bubble tea, I saw some DIY bubble tea kits on another thread but got a bit confused about whether they would be the same as the bubble tea she gets from the shops. I need to educate myself.

She has also asked for an air up bottle as a couple of her friends have them. They are £££ for a drink bottle though!

I agree it's a difficult age.

What switch games do your dds play?

mamamarshmallow · 04/11/2023 10:00

My DD (9) asked for a bedroom makeover. it's not been done since she was born so I agreed. She made her final choices this week so everything on order. Thankfuly she got new bed & bedroom furniture the last 2years. She's at her dad's for Christmas this year, so I'm hoping to get it all done in that few days 😬

You can buy bubble tea kits in some supermarkets.

Squishmallows (although she could open a shop with the amount she's got), have got her a Slytherin one though.
Popcorn set
Sushi candy box
Tickets for Harry Potter tour
She randomly put a VR headset on her list last weekend but won't be getting one (maybe next year!)
Clothes

We got DD a bubble tea set last Christmas from Bubble Panda - they're really good but has to be used within 30 days. I found with DD the novelty wore off of making her own, she prefers buying them in town!.

Bernadinetta · 04/11/2023 13:00

soundsys · 04/11/2023 13:07

menopausalmare · 01/11/2023 22:16

Another bloody squishmallow, probably.

Yep!

I'm also getting mine the Magic the Gathering starter set, although appreciate that's a bit niche! (She's really into Pokémon cards/battles so this feels like a natural next step 😁)

DDs 9 & 11 both have squishmellows on their lists. One has a specific jelly cat toy too.

11yo got a sewing machine last year and this year it’s all about crochet, lots of wool, eyes, markers, needles and I’ve got a nice bag to organise everything in.

9yo has never been a toy child, very eclectic tastes, but dose love her make up, I got her a nice makeup case last year and more nice sets. She dose like her arts and crafts so lots that.

Posca pens are a great hit with both, they both have their own sets as well as fancy markers and pads they are very protective over.

This year on top of their main wants I’ve added a perfume set each, the Ariana Grande Christmas Cracker perfume set. My 9yo has a Christmas body shop set, her best friends mum dose body shop at home and my dd loves it. Last year I got them the Ted Baker body sprays from Boots, they both loved them.

Other hits are clothes that I would not normally justify in buying, branded stuff they like.

They have just had their rooms done and both asked for fake plants, I’m not keen on getting too much plastic so I’ve bought alternatives, I have got one fake cherry blossoms as one dd loves them. I’ve also bought a variety of photo frames, string ones and old fashioned photo reel frames.
