I only want small things

Is there anyone else who doesn't want massive gifts? When I was a kid I loved little things at xmas, some stationary, a puzzle, make your own jewellery kit or a little kit of some kind. I didn't want the latest doll or toy.
I liked to use my imagination.
I'm the same today, I'd like a set of paintbrushes for my hobby this year and maybe a set of tiny screwdrivers - I make miniatures. They would give me massive pleasure, much more so than expensive scarves and toiletries.
I went to spend xmas once with a wealthy relative and felt the day was completely overwhelmed by the mass of gifts under the tree. I just wanted to go home.

Yep. My partner gets irked at me because my Xmas wish list is, in his opinion, all tat. But, the point is, it's 'tat' useful things I wouldn't buy for myself.
Last year I wanted a new apron for baking. Year before that was a salad spinner. This year its a spinning cake stand 😁

Write a list.
Write in big letters "This is my Christmas wish list. I would love to receive anything from this list and not anything else. Thank you".
Give it to the people who buy you gifts.

I'm often disappointed in the "creative" gifts I'm given when I honestly have a book wish list a mile long and what I want is books, what I love is books, give me the books!

I don't want to be ungrateful, but I am so easy to buy for really!

Yeah all I want is books too, and 2nd hand ones at that. Or things that are thousands of pounds - there is no in between.

Fitness dice.
Backflow incense cones.
A book on dinosaurs.

I'd be ecstatic.

I love the small presents. As a child my mum did cracking stockings and they were always my best bit. Metallic pens, novelty rubbers, film for my camera etc. I'd love looking back through my little pile.
My sister gives me a box of little treats every year now. She splits up beauty advent calendars, adds in free samples she's got throughout the year and pops in some nice chocolates. Makes me so happy.

You're not alone, OP, the best christmas present I got in the recent years was a Photoworks license, because I did my first steps into photography field and already had the camera but couldn't decide on a photo editor. I still use it and loved it as a gift, even though it wasn't something to unwrap, yk. Christmas isn't actually about gifts to me, so I'm fine getting a handmade card if I know it was made with thoughts of me.
