Keep seeing an advert for these, are they really worth it ?

Absolutely not. DH ordered some a couple of years ago. They arrived in February. No option to cancel the order even though it was going to be shipped 3 months late.
No function to contact them. All negative comments/ complaints on Facebook were swiftly deleted.

The actual socks are horribly acrylicy feeling things. And we have lots of them because we were planning on using them as stocking fillers but obviously couldnt!

Doidontimmm · 28/10/2023 21:49

I got some for my DH and he loves them, I stole a pair and they are really cosy. Had no issues with delivery.

dicedicebaby · 28/10/2023 22:19

There appear to be different websites selling them...

On a previous thread some people were saying they're all from the same Chinese supplier (and are cheap crap that don't fit or wash well) and other people were saying that some were genuinely good (from nordic socks uk)

Anyway, I bought some and there's nothing wrong with them - they are warm, they stretch nicely, and they've washed well. However, they're not worth the price (I've had similar thick socks from matalan etc)

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/10/2023 22:23

It will depend what they are made of. 'Nordic' doesn't mean much without context. It could just mean that they have Nordic-style patterns on them. If they are just cheap acrylic crap, I wouldn't bother! Proper wool, stranded knitted socks are a different matter, especially if they are handmade!

aablaster · 28/10/2023 22:25

Got some last year advertised on Instagram . Hate them . Didn’t fit well and felt itchy . Much better off going to M&S .

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/10/2023 22:26

I just Googled. The ones you can find loads of adverts for do not look like quality items. Even the ones adverstised as Merino wool turn out to be 33% acrylic.

skilpadde · 28/10/2023 22:43

So long as you're mindful that they're not made of wool, and they're not made in Scandinavia, and you buy from somewhere that delivers in good time, they're actually really good, really warm socks.

I live in a freezing house with freezing floors, and wearing these along with tent slippers helps a lot.

Mixed experience here . The first lot I ordered are lovely , the second lot not nearly as thick or good quality .

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 29/10/2023 08:28

Smart wool socks are expensive but amazing

GettingStuffed · 29/10/2023 10:11

These look good, mainly merino wool with a small amount of nylon which I assume is added to make it fit closely

E4rwig · 28/11/2023 21:52

In general I don't trust any company that blankets social media with ads - I think I've seen those patterned socks advertised to me every Christmas for the last five years!!

RepetitiveMotion · 29/11/2023 06:22

I buy DH the Irish socks from Sarah Raven each year which are lovely quality. I forgot last year and gosh did he complain!

BirdieQ · 31/01/2024 16:04

I just received some really cheap and nasty “Nordic socks” from Nordic Socks UK (nordicsocks.uk) and I’m fuming. Not only did I pay P&P for the pleasure of receiving them they want me to pay to return them (with tracking). The return address itself looks extremely dodgy: Thorn House, Road One, Corner of Road Three, …? The socks feel thin any mostly like nylon. There are broken bits of elastic sticking out and they’re absolutely nothing like the pair I got from The Nordic Sock Company nordicsockcompany.com which are brilliant quality for warmth, texture and wool/cotton content.
What a rubbish experience 🙄

I have exactly the same experience. Total fraud, made in china its not nordic,ai bots with empty promises, they take orders but they don't have stock and of course the blocking your reviews on Facebook...conclusion....stay away.

NameChanger407 · 23/12/2024 05:37

I got some around a year ago and their still in fantastic condition. So warm I love them. I bought my mum some too and hers are also still in great condition. I think it depends where you get them from if their good quality or not

Anastasios090909 · 23/12/2024 09:02

My mistake they are Turkish not Chinese, neither way they are not nordic...tooooooo expensive for a product that made in Turkey...also terrible services.

I bought these and absolutely loved them:

I'm in Copenhagen right now and bought some of these yesterday. They are so amazing I'm popping back to Illums Bolighus again today for some more!
