What are your favourite things to bake Christmas time/ winter months? Any failsafe knock out recipes? I'm looking for some new ideas/ new recipes.

I love the Sainsbury’s Magazine recipe for Black Forest gateau and I also use their recipe for mince pie fudge.

I always make Nigella’s Christmas spiced chocolate cake.

Christmas shortbread https://www.blakeandbull.co.uk/blogs/recipes-with-instructions-for-aga-range-cookers/christmas-shortbread. You don’t need an Aga- just pop in the oven instead. So easy & definite crowd pleaser. I’ve done it with caramel sauce in the middle instead- yummy!

Giant chocolate truffles to drop into hot milk to make hot choc

I think 160 for most then turn it up a bit at the end to make the top go golden. It takes longer than it says in the recipe.

Sausage roll wreath is my absolute favourite which I make on Boxing Day. Sausage meat and sage and onion stuffing mixed together and some sage leaves for the filling, in puff pastry. With cranberry and port sauce.

We make the puff pastry Nutella tree every year - the kids do it.

White chocolate cheesecake is always a top request too

by Edam scotch eggs do you mean a chunk of Edam instead of egg wrapped in sausage meat and breadcrumbs or some other variation?! Sounds yum!

Amimaimia more like a mini baby bel. My oh doesn’t like eggs so found a happy alternative.

I also discovered a recipe in a local magazine that uses up lots of sweet Christmas leftovers like mincemeat and marzipan. It's on a pecan base. I make it every year.

I don’t bake much but always make star bread ( sometimes sun Nutella for the cinnamon sugar). It’s the only thing my kids request every year at Xmas
